Regina comes to mind. They tried building a lake and passing it off as natural, but they're not fooling anybody.

Only one fake lake? Amateurs.

No wonder everyone leaves Saskatchewan to live in Calgary.

Oh where to begin...
  • Craig McMurder murders that girl with his car.
  • Glenn Anderson tried to murder a young Ryan Smyth with his car.

    Courtesy Reg Dunlop
  • Their owner sells the greatest player in NHL history pre apex.
  • The Oilers rough up a season ticket holder into the basement for having "trade Lowe" on his jersey.
  • The Oiler faithful burn Pronger's baby crib.
  • The Oiler faithful shoot fireworks at girls standing in grocery carts.
  • The Oiler faithful girls stand in grocery carts as though it is somehow rational and classy.
  • The Oilers trade for Nylander.
  • The Oilers trade for Heatly.
  • The Oilers trade away 600 goal man Schremp.
  • The Oilers miss the playoffs for 6 years and counting.
  • They try to force Souray to play injured, then attempt to bury him in the minors when he refuses.
  • The Oilers whine to the media about free agents not wanting to play in Edmonton
  • The Oilers fire, then rehire Craig McMurder.
  • Kevin Lowe defends McMurder's hiring based on the number of Stanley Cups he won 30 years ago, and that he is therefore somehow competent...thereby showing his incompetence.
And NOW they are losers?

Lots of bad karma in this thread. Guys, the Flames are going to be pretty awful for the next couple of years at least, let's not throw stones. Hopefully our rebuild goes quicker than the Oilers, but there is certainly no guarantee.

I don't think Flames fans are disputing the Flames are going to be terrible this season, or have a long and arduous task ahead at rebuilding this team into a contender again.

The problem with Edmonton is that they've had a young, exciting, up-and-coming team for nearly 20 years according to many takes in the media, and they have nothing to show for it. But they always get the benefit of the doubt, always get the hype, and always get a free pass because they're just on the cusp of breaking out.

Which is garbage.

The Flames' current situation stems directly from a similar thread started 4 years ago. If I had known then just how irresistable a force karma is, I would have campaigned much harder to have that thread stricken from the record. You are right, this thread bodes disaster.

What's done is done, though. Might as well just sit back and mock Edmonton.

I don't think Karma has anything to do with this. We are just the "lucky" ones who get to witness their silliness in having a sign when entering their city the says "City of Champions" on it.

Doesn't matter about what is happening here, the teams in Edmonton are pathetic right now and I don't mind a little laughing and mocking at all.

Sure it exists, and it has no use for Traffic Circles with lights. Hence the awful Football and Hockey teams at the same time.

The team sold the greatest player who will ever play the game... Did anyone really think the hockey gods wouldn't punish them for that? This team is the reason people say "Well, if Gretzky can be traded, anyone can be traded". They deserve to stay at the bottom of the league.

Yes, the Flames may some day be in a similar position...

Which is why we have to kick them even harder while we still can.

The only fanbase I know of in any sport that managed to get smug about LOSING.

F*** those ********.

Not really. Sure the Flames are facing their turn with the rebuild but they still haven't been as spectacularily bad as the Oilers have been over the last decade and the Stampeders are the youngest team in the CFL and will be good for years so at least one of our teams will be good.

Is that something that happens often? I mean a GM and player only "press conference" before training camp. Seems like such an Oiler thing to do. Like correct me if I am wrong it just seems odd and I can't recall another team doing something like this.

Not to mention the whole thing reads like we tried to trade him, nobody wanted him, and now we are struck with him hoping he plays well.
