Neat. That 2x$3 offer is fascinating. Wonder where it came from (rather obvious why it might have been tabled).

Fascinating! Nesterov had some hype coming into the league and just fizzled out. I'm very intrigued to see what a little maturity will do for this player.

Also, so many lefties still. Still think tree is putting in a ton of work into trades.

Prior to the last two years when they signed Yelesin and Zagidulin and drafted Zavgorodny, the last Russian in the system was Rafikov.

Burke didn’t believe in Russians.

What did Darryl say after he acquired Kipper, something like “he’s Just a placeholder until the fat Russian kid finds his passport.”

Taratukhin played a season in the AHL, and that was it.

They’ve ignored Russia. They could have invested in Russian scouting and operations to build their reputation in that country, they could’ve signed more Russian FAs and taken late round fliers on skilled players.

In the absence of all of that, one can only conclude the country hasn’t been a priority for them, or they’ve been scared. Either way, it’s good that’s no longer the case.

Man, just watched his CSKA highlights from. Last year. He's a heavy checker, a banger on the powerplay and was the Captain??

Looks like a steal. Oh and looks like he plays the right side as well.

There was some turnover in the Kings front office, most notably Assistant GM Futa left the organization in May. Could have something to do with it?

I still feel like there is a deal in play for Hanifin + Ryan and some futures to try and bolster the top 6 right side.

Like Forsberg or something? Who would be the target there

Even from just a quick cursory glance I don't see Nesterov being a 7/8 depth D man here. This guy can play. Think Gustavsson but hits hard and plays actual d a bit more.

I like this signing. The one thing though: he shoots left! Gahhhh! Does he play the right side?

Looks like he plays the right side so if no trades could be

Gio-Andersson
Hanifin-Tanev
Valimaki-Nesterov
Kylington.

Or even weirder:

Gio-Nesterov (Brodes replacement )
Hanifin-Andersson (all is right in the world)
Valimaki-Tanev (Mentor meet mentee)
