I wasn't trying to disparage you, just thought it was strange that NHL.com had different stats listed. No idea why!

Still struggling to temper expectations, but what a great start to the year for him.

Technically now at 3 GP in the VHL but only two starts, both of which have been shutouts.
Now sitting at a .987 SV% in the VHL

Watch, now that we signed a guy for 6 years to be the starter, both Chechelev and Wolf will explode.
Chechelev pretty much already is. Those are eye-popping numbers.

What are the rules on Russian RFAs? Is there an equivalent of the college loophole outside of not coming over to NA?

Well he isn't RFA.
But besides that because of the lack of transfer agreement between Russia and the NHL, NHL teams hold the rights of draft picks from Russia forever.
In other words if he ever wants to play in the NHL he has to sign with the Flames regardless of his age.

From what I can gather, he is one of 8 goalies under the age of 20 to play in the VHL so far this season, most of whom have only played 1 or 2 games as well (I think the most is like 4 games). There are a few more on VHL rosters, but have yet to play. So while it isn't unusual, it isn't typical either.

Meh, Flames will still need back ups. And honestly, backing up Marky is a perfect scenario for one of the kids.

Goalies need seasoning and time to play as a back-up. If he or Wolf keep on an NHL trajectory they will be splitting time with Markstrom in year 5 and 6 of his contract.

I hope he keeps tearing the Russian leagues a new one and ends the season in the KHL.
