Really its the Canadian market syndrome.

LOL what... signing Hall is just for the sake of it?
He fits a need and allows us the possibility to trade away an asset (Johnny) for at a value you wont see next year.
You'd much rather we stay mediocre with the same core and do nothing and then let Johnny walk away for 0?
I'm confused here, signing Hall to me is not at all a "just want to see a signing"

So after they buy Ryan out, how much salary do they need to take on to make the salary floor? Might be an opportunity for GMs to push off bad contracts to Ottawa, though if a year of Marleau at 6.5M cost a 1st, these GMs will need to be prepared to package 1sts and prospects to shed bad contracts.

If he came cheap for 1-2 years, I’d support it. Otherwise, no thank you.

Lol Endless suffering of the fan base to continue in Ottawa as Ken Warren (Ottawa Citizen) reporting that the Sens are looking at contracts like Derek Stepan's, where the cap hit greatly exceeds the actual money owed.
Lucic?

Zero chance Lucic waives to go to Ottawa. Less than zero even.

I was joking. I actually like Looch though it would be nice to reclaim that cap space.
My post was more in pity of sens fans who are likely to see a series of unhappy roster moves.

You’re 100% bang on. I absolutely won’t want Taylor Hall on the team when we’re watching games again but that sweet sweet signing thread and those sweet sweet Fan 960 discussions.

I am not a fan of Hall either, but I can see how signing him could be a huge benefit. Allows us to trade #13 for, what should be, a boatload of prospects and picks.
I am for signing him, but also hope for a small hometown discount (even though some say they don’t exist).
I know our recent free agent signings haven’t been great, but Hall is still a FREE agent.

He was a second-overall pick.

If Looch is ready to retire, which it sounded like he was at one point last off season, how would this play out? Looch to Ottawa, Looch then retires. Doesn’t Ottawa still have cap hit but not any actual salary to pay?

I would definitely sign Ryan to a cheap 1-year deal to play in the bottom six.

He's never been a great skater and I have no idea how anyone could come to the conclusion he's a fast skater.

Doesn't this actually save more like $6.777 in real money (before escrow, which still applies to buyout)?

I’d only sign him cause we could probably trade him to the Oilers for two 2nds.

Bobby Ryan said the Philadelphia Flyers would be near the top of his list of teams to sign a contract with if they offered one to him when the NHL free agency market opens Oct. 9.
