The amount of fishtailing by strugglers is too damn high! And the type of fishtailing that blocks multiple lanes simultaneously too!

The fishtailing is the only thing that makes this fun.

Yeah, I was excited to see how much was coming down this morning and then I checked the Louise snow forecast and was... very disappointed. 5cm? Really?

More to come. Supposed to stop mid day and start pummeling us over night into Saturday.

This is garbage. You could hardly see anything last night on the highway it was blizzard like conditions.

Sliding around corners is fun. Weaving around strugglers is fun.

The struggler going 20-30 below the speed limit blocking everyone behind them and looking like they could sideswipe half a dozen cars simultaneously and start to slide back down the hill if they lost just a little bit of momentum, that's not fun.

Yeah, this is fun to drive in on your own... Not in traffic. My bus driver this morning made a herculean effort to get into downtown despite getting stuck 3 separate times and having to contend with said strugglers as he tried to get that massive machine enough traction to get back into traffic. I was glad i wasn't driving.

Fishtailing rules in this. Start the car and immediately turn off traction control. I actually don't like traction control on in this stuff. I'm expecting to move and am ready to counter steer and then you cut all power? F that.

Also, this weather makes me so glad I only considered cars with hard buttons. One button to disable traction control and it's always in the same spot I can hit by feel. Hold to disable stability control if I really want some fun.

Everyone in my family, sans wife, loves it when just before we get to our driveway, I pull the handbrake and turn in.

jeeze - how much snow have you guys been getting hit with??

on tuesday my truck went in to get the winter tires off/summer tires on.
yesterday i was outside with my son (both of us in shorts, tees and sandals) washing the winter tires so they are nice and clean so i can put them away until next fall.
we're "cooling off" today to +15C

oh... and doing doughnuts/fish tailing in the snow is the BEST!!! soooo much fun!

Hopefully two more days of this makes it a good weekend otherwise I'll just pull out my sleds and take the kids to the Saint Andrews hill for some fun in the snow.

It's an upslope (eastern slopes) storm - those always hit us hard and leave the mountains dry. The lack of snow at Louise and Sunshine is not one bit surprising.

Storms form the west - snow in mountains, warm in the city.
Storms from the north - snow in the city, cold in the mountains.

My wife is not at all impressed with my antics in these conditions. I think it's awesome (and have tried to explain to her that screwing around potentially gives you tried and tested skills if you're in a situation where you need them!).

I told my wife that those antics are why I don't get stuck trying to get out of the driveway and she did (only once to be fair).

Mind you I grew up partly in Saskabush and she grew up mostly where snow is an abstract concept.

Still was funny.

Sliding around an empty parking lot when I was first driving has saved my life on the road.
