15 forwards
9 defense
3 goalies.
Only 7 players will sit per rookie game against the Oilers.

No Chechelev
Also, several players are not required to attend, but if you are on the bubble, why not get as much face time with the new coaching staff in Calgary and Stockton?
Parsons, Mackey, Phillips, Philp and Gawdin

Serhyenko is interesting. He was ranked the #9 goaltender by central scouting for the 2021 draft. He had really good stats as a 17 year old but came crashing down in his draft year.

I would imagine that the coaches would prefer that this camp not be too crowded. Does anyone know if it is even optional for established pros to attend?

from the article I linked above
Quote:
Signed players no longer on entry-level deals, but who weren’t on NHL roster for 34+ games last season:
G: Adam Werner, Tyler Parsons and Daniel Vladar
D: Kevin Gravel, Colton Poolman, Nick DeSimone, Oliver Kylington, Andy Welinski, Connor Mackey
F: Justin Kirkland, Matthew Phillips, Luke Philp, Brett Ritchie, Glenn Gawdin and Byron Ritchie
These guys are technically eligible to report on Sept. 15 (as part of the rookies) as they’re not considered CBA “veterans” yet, but the Flames tend to bring players no longer on their ELCs to camp with the “veterans”, so they’ll probably report on Sept. 22 with that bunch.

Flames tend to keep rookie camp numbers down so that the kids can get more reps. These are usually the least established guys in the system, so this gives them more hands-on time with the development staff.

I was kinda hoping to see a few more invites, as there was plenty of noteworthy prospects that went undrafted this year. I was looking at the Leafs' Development Camp roster, and they have a large group of undrafted invitees coming to camp-including names like C Braeden Kressler, G Braden Holt, and C Lawson Sherk. They also have older kids coming, like LW James Hardie (many of us know this name), C Cedric Pare' and C Theo Rochette. The one name that stands out the most IMO is D Jacob Guevin-he's 5'11", but was the top-scoring draft-eligible D-man in his first year of eligibility in the USHL. He's got an impressive arsenal of offensive skill, and is already turning heads in camp. Despite his size, he plays a physical game and skates very well. Negatives are his decision-making at times, and his defensive play-neither of which were bad enough to keep him from being drafted. Lots of very surprising names were left on the board this year, lots more than usual with the situation regarding the CHL.

I guess these players have to want to come to Calgary.
Maybe Leaf fans are right, everyone wants to play for the Leafs.

Exactly right, but we usually see more invites, and there's often some interesting names.

Today is just medicals... and probably a cooking class in the evening where they learn how to make spaghetti the way Mama Mangiapane makes it.

I am looking forward to hearing reports on Pelletier, Zary, Francis, Kinnvall and Solovyov.
I'll be keeping a keen eye on them during the rookie games.

Are Freeway and TheScorpion at the arena yet? I am eager for my shift-by-shift camp updates.

Ryan Francis is really going to turn some heads here.
Guy is super skilled, attacks the middle of the ice, has a great backhand and a very high IQ.
Going to give some fans the chance to watch him play. Guy is going to be a very solid player.
