Vasek survives winning 6-4 4-6 6-4 and gives his smashed racquet to a lucky fan.

He's always been an intense competitor, but he's really on edge these days. He was barking at umpire Carlos Bernardes in Sofia last week during his match and last night he actually was given a ball abuse warning prior to the racquet smash which cost him a point penalty. As it turned out, the racquet smash was the TSN turning point as he was down 3-1 in the third set at the time and then went on to win five of the next six games.

I may be off basis here but IMO If he wants to be a leader on tour with the players union, then I don't think he should act like that on court.

I don't think your off base at all, it's not a good look. He took a big hit in the rankings with his early exit in Sofia and he was staring another early exit in the face last night against JJ. I'm going to put it down to the pressure getting to him and releasing some steam. It should be a fun match on Saturday against Shapo.

Meanwhile, Nick Kyrgios is making headlines for all the wrong reasons...
Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios and his girlfriend were put into separate quarantine hotel rooms in Adelaide on Thursday after an argument that necessitated the police being called, according to a report in the Sydney Morning Herald.
“In the afternoon of Thursday 7 October 2021, police were alerted to a verbal argument between two occupants within a Pedi-hotel,” South Australian police told the newspaper. “An investigation was conducted, no offenses were disclosed and both parties will now spend the remainder of their quarantine in separate rooms.”
The relationship between Kyrgios and model Chiari Passari has been publicly volatile since they began dating last year, with Passari making cryptic references to infidelity before the Australian Open this year.
During an Instagram Q&A with fans, Passari posted a photo of Kyrgios in bed with another woman to answer a question referencing what had happened between them earlier this year. That appeared to escalate the argument, as Passari began posting screenshots of text messages between them. One of them included Kyrgios allegedly telling her “Don’t neck yourself tonight,” referencing suicide.

Big yikes in terms of Krygios, I saw these screen shots on Twitter, where his GF said his behavior is similar to Zverev. ATP really needs to step in and show some leadership and investigate these allegations and take immediate action instead of burying their heads in the sand again.

Fans who cheer for him should be ashamed of themselves. I have never seen a pro athlete hate his own sport more than Nick the Dick.

ARV defeated Lorenzo Musetti rather easily 6-1 6-3 this afternoon and thus will be Felix's opponent in round 2 on Sunday.

Would it be not too surprising if Leylah as USO runner up is to her benefit over the next while, as compared to Raducanu? She’s likely had considerably more time and motivation to keep learning and training even harder, particularly since she hasn’t had stuff like hanging out with the royal family on her schedule.
