He hit the wall in sets 4 and 5, but was very impressive in my opinion.

Shapo is quite struggling to put away a baked RBA.

Wow Fonseca took Rublev out in straights. Kid has a 19 consecutive sets streak.

Nice comeback by Shapo last night/early morning to get the win over RBA. Janko Tipsarevic aka DJ Tipsy might be just the right coach to get Denis back inside the top 30 in the world.

Live rankings has Joao Fonseca at #98 - Does he finish the year inside the top 50?

This was an entertaining match. Diallo has certainly upped his game again with some of the backhand exchanges he was able to pull off. If the hands come around a bit more at the net this year he could do some real damage.
Fantastic win for the Canadian which has him firmly entrenched inside the top 100 now.

Just by reaching the 2nd round, Gabe has earned 200K Aussie dollars (about 179 grand in Canadian dollars). Tough one next against Khachanov, but he has played him tough in their two previous meetings.

he might be inside the top 50 by the end of next week!
He's got Sonogo and then Tiafoe next. Both had long matches already.

Shapo gets Musetti next which will be a battle of the 1HBH's (lefty versus righty). I think Denis has a chance here, but Musetti played a fine match taking out his paisano Arnaldi in round 1.

This is a good article from the Guardian detailing how dark of a place Andrey Rublev was in last year and even taking some anti-depression medication. The good news is that he's in a much better place mentally now and gives credit to Marat Safin.
How did Rublev find a way to recover? “Since Wimbledon some things changed,” he says. “I was taking anti-depression tablets and it was not helping at all. In the end I said: ‘I don’t want to take anything any more.’ I stopped all the tablets and Marat Safin [his fellow Russian, who won two grand slam titles] helped me a lot with conversation.
“He made me realise many things and then I start to work with a psychologist. I learn a lot about myself and while I don’t feel in a happy mood or the happy place I would like to be I don’t feel any more that crazy anxiety and stress of not understanding what to do with my life.”
Rublev has great empathy and he makes it clear that each individual case needs to be treated on its own merits. His decision not to take medication would not be right for many others. “You can have everything in life, a healthy family, all the material things, the healthiest relationship but, if there is something happening with yourself that you don’t want to see, you will never be happy. If you find it, and accept it, you will feel better and better.”

Tomas Machac with a five set win over Reilly Opelka coming back from two sets to one down. He could do some damage in this tourney.

Leylah has forced a 3rd set in her match with Cristina Bucsa. Bucsa took the first set 6-3 and just now Leylah broke late and then consolidated to take set 2 6-4. Leylah isn't playing all that well in my opinion, but she's battling hard out there.
