Correct me if I am wrong, but there can be no “incentives” in any contract with Kane.

Cobra...no bonuses? I am unsure about specific NHL structure with that, but, even so, the idea, then, would be a one year contract, with informal promises, if the bonuses can't be built in, kind of like what the 'Hawks did with Marcus Kruger, when they couldn't fit his 2nd contract under the cap, deferred a good raise to the 3rd contract.

Flames need to sign Kane for rest of year. Let’s face it Sutter is probably not going to use the farm team for help unless a huge amount of injuries happen. Also in the last couple of years how many trades have happened mid season , excluding deadline deals? Without looking into it, my guess is not many. Flames are also not very stacked in high end prospects that could return true top 6 players. After top line and Mangiapane, I’m not sure there are any forwards left that other teams would covet . Flames need more scoring this year and Kane won’t cost assets. Granted if I’m Kane I sign with Edmonton and try and rack up as many points as possible playing with mcdavid .

I don’t see why Kane would choose the Flames over the Oilers to be honest. McDavid and Draisaitl are far bigger selling points than Backlund, Monahan, or Dube

Particularly if they are making any loose promises to give him ice-time with McDavid. Dude is going to be highly motivated to put up numbers so he can cash-in.

Wait, I thought Hyman was the answer on McDavid's wing?

Spector thinks he and Nuge are needed on the third line to give them depth

Informal promises are just that, non-binding.
I doubt that Kane would put much stock in any wink and nod to take care of you later. if you have a good year. Certainly not from a team with no history with that player.

Correct, from capfriendly the 3 ways to be eligible are:
Quote:
The player is on an entry-level contract.
The player has signed a one-year contract and is over 35 years old.
The player has signed a one-year contract after returning from a long-term injury (has played 400 or more games, and spent 100 or more days on the Injured Reserve in the last year of their most recent contract).
|
Unless maybe Kane can forge an ID card to show him as 35 years old...

"Need to"?
Uh...no. That is NOT what they "need". Let's bring in a bankrupt, waived, washed-up, cheating anti-vax guy.....uh.....sure....that'll help us!!!
They need discipline. Stick to what the coach says. Execute it. No lazy plays. That. Is. All.

Someone with photoshop skills need to make something
Just his ID with a fake name and a mustache drawn on the picture so he can say he's a rookie

Terry Jones (been told) to throw water on the Kane to Oilers thing after the same publication floated it out there for public consumption and dialogue a week ago to get fans warmed to the idea.
From that column, sounds like the NHL will rule in the latest hurdle for Kane in next few days, maybe another suspension, which, for the Oilers looking to get some sort of quick bandaid, that hail mary shot would go out the window...and or the Oilers were out bid anyways and this would save face of being rejected.

Lol...suspended, gets COVID, Christmas break, contract terminated and now cooling his heels awaiting his next suspension.
But I'll bet Kane is diligently maintaining his mental and physical discipline, hitting any ice he can to keep his speed up and crushing it in the Gym to stay in Game Shape.
Should we start a pool regarding "Kane in his Off-Time seen...?"

Would be nice to see Kane sign with the Panthers (sorry CPF) on Thursday just before the game in Edmonton. Wouldn’t play that night but it would be all the talk.

You don't win with a cancer like Kane in your locker room. Let the Oilers take him.
