Yea, got through 2 pages of drivel before I gave up, as I just wanted to see if there was an actual update to Kane.

CP hockey talk lately is nothing but a bunch of keyboard warriors.

I lost my father in a car accident when I was 12 I know just how painful and upsetting it can be. To those who lost someone because of a drunk driver, I am sorry for your losses I can see why this is a sensitive topic. MacT was given a second chance and has made the best of it let's be happy for him; It doesn't diminish the magnitude of his mistake but people struggle for different reasons. We can only hope they get the support they need and learn from it.

Evander Kane doesn't always make good choices, concerning for him in Edmonton is that there are a lot of casinos, he would probably be better off in a city where he has a better opportunities for support. I hope the NHL if they are going to let him play will look at the options that fit his best interests, An opportunity in Edmonton is probably not a good fit for his recovery.

Have any other teams been even remotely linked to Kane, or is it basically Oilers or bust at this point? I haven't heard anything. I thought that maybe a team like Nashville would roll the dice. Lower media attention and a decent team that may be on its last push before having to take a step back.

Kane's personality and an extremely intrusive media market seem like a recipe for disaster.

Florida and Tampa were mentioned. I feel like the fact he hasn’t signed in Edmonton is either because he is going to be suspended right away for Covid violations over the holidays or he is desperately trying to find another team to leverage the Oilers offer against so he doesn’t end up in Edmonton

It's only "Oilers or bust" in the minds of Oiler management, their media shills, and their idiotic fans. But I'm betting there are several other teams currently talking to Kane's people, despite him being a terrible human being. Safe to say that Edmonton is probably the last place that Kane or his agent would want him to go, especially if he wants to be part of a winner.

True but I can’t imagine a much better place than San Jose though. A low key, quiet city not known for wild night life, gambling, etc, with a pretty veteran team (at least when he joined).

It was all fine enough until they started losing.

Hard to imagine Wilson signed him to that contract without talking to a few of those vets first, but who knows.

I guess. I just don’t know what isolated city you could possibly stick him in where he avoids trouble. He’s been in Buffalo, Winnipeg and SJ.

I don't understand it, but, I see that McJesus is getting headlines for being non-committal on the Oil signing Kane. The exact quote: "If fans don’t like it, or the media doesn’t like it, or whatever... it is what it is."

I do my best to ignore that team (I got enough of them in the 80s!), but, what little I have paid attention to McSavior in interviews, he seems to have a flat affect as a baseline, and reading too much into his words is pretty damn silly.

Now, as far as Kane, if a team is to add ANYBODY, the following must be evaluated

1. Compatibility with system. Kane seems ok with an open offensive system, and I would expect that if defensive demands are minimal, he'd fit in.

2. Expense vs expected production, harder to predict, but, my assumption is that he'd sign a "show me" contract with incentives. This would entail minimal risk.

3. Compatibility with team culture. This one is where the red flags have been throughout Kane's career, from the Jets guys tossing his crap into the shower, to assault, gambling, and domestic violence accusations, and recently, breaking league guidelines, it would be hard to predict how badly, or how long, a guy would want to make team his addition to chemistry work, especially if an agent is in his ear, reminding him how close he is to being out of chances. With the Oil, I would anticipate a more difficult time, in that the whole organization rotates around keeping a very small cadre of top line forwards happy, to the expense of the rest of the organization.

Frankly, I've never paid much attention to E. Kane, Thrashers, Jets, Sabres, Sharks, aren't exactly marquee teams to follow, with little rivalry history, for Chicago fans. And don't really care if another team throws him a lifeline.

The McDavid answer was just really poor prep which led to his answer that ends up sounding like “I don’t care about the fans”. There were plenty of off-ramps for a prepared and/or intelligent guy to use there that wouldn’t offend the fans.

"In this moment, McDavid needed the insulation of his organization, and not to be the one providing the insulation for his organization.

It's just another example of the Oilers hanging their superstar out to dry."

Erie County District Attorney: "The totality of credible evidence - the proof - does not sufficiently substantiate the complainant's allegation that she was raped by Patrick Kane and this so-called 'case' is rife with reasonable doubt."

Why do you guys keep smearing P. Kane with this allegation?

Very true, he is running out of options. Heading to Edmonton is probably not the right Road for his recovery. Having said that we don't know what all his vices are, He may need some restrictions and some intervention.
