That's awesome. Probably a great trip. Would gladly pay for him to take a vacation than the previous PM.

Welp I better vote for someone that doesn't believe in equal rights for all Canadians instead.

Link doesn't work but that article is 3 weeks old and says most of the costs were from the RCMP. OP should be blaming them for their wasteful spending.

Are u kidding? The police are just doing what they are obligated to do. If the silverspoon boy knows it cost that much to protect him he should have stayed home and planned how to take more taxpayers money to pay for the illegal immigrants he is inviting into Canada.

I dislike Trudeau as PM as much as the next guy, but like any State head, there is going to be costs associated with any travel. Just look at Secret Service costs down South. Necessary evil - but at least $215k seems somewhat reasonable. Can't really force someone to never take a vacation or travel.

You realize that any Prime Minister and even former Prime Ministers have security paid for by our tax dollars right? Like for instance when I saw former PM Harper at a flames game last year and he had two armed plain clothes police officers accompanying that was obviously not paid for out of his pocket. Still share the same outrage?

For perspective, for the 8 years Obama was in office the secret service spent 105 million protecting him on non-essential travel. Trump is going to dwarf those numbers.

He isn't inviting illegal immigrants into Canada, that doesn't even make sense.

Are you serious? WTF should tax payers pay anyones 200+ grand holiday, and if it's reported $215g you can count on it being double

If he's inviting them, that means they're not illegal, doesn't it?

It's obviously allowed.

If you don't like It, do something about it. Maybe pay for his security yourself.

I'm guessing this is the trip the OP was referring to:
http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/trud...hics-1.4034413

Most of the immigrants are due to the nutjob trump's policies.

Most of the immigrants will not get citizenship because they are economic migrants from Haiti, DR, etc. The Prime Minister who instituted the immigration Act of 1976 was Pierre Trudeau. None of he Conservative PM's since then have sought to change or amend the basis of that legislation.
http://www.pier21.ca/research/immigr...ation-act-1976

It allows wealthier immigrants to come, persecuted ones, families to reunite. Yet precludes economic migrants who break the law and/or seek immigration for purely economic reasons.

Carry on.

If you're going to try to make a point like this, why not put it in context? What has Trudeau's annual taxpayer spend on personal trips been, and how does it compare to Harper's (and if you like, Martin's, adjusted into 2017 dollars)?

I mean, all I know is that Trump has spent something like $32 million through six months, so 200 grand doesn't really make my eyebrows go up.
