Though Sutter likes it so he can hold some early feet to the fire. A quip about Gudbranson is some honest truth and a shot at some of the guys who asked/want to take a bigger role this year at the back.

I'm not surprised or concerned at all this pre-season. As soon as this off season came together with a complete rebuild of the core I knew two things would happen
1. The team would struggle to gel and find chemistry for the first month or so, and
2. Our fan base would lose it's collective mind, allowing no patience or understanding for what it takes to attain chemistry with this many line and D pair changes.
However, one thing I also felt is true from when we acquired Kadri until now is that this team is one star, scoring winger away from being a true contender. And there is and will be evidence of this being apparent as we head into the season, imo.

I originally wanted a top 4 D-man out for a scoring, top line winger. Now with Kylington out an undetermined amount of time, I don't know if it's realistic to do that early season. May have to acquire one closer to the trade deadline.
I could see the season going as follows
- Struggle out of the gate from October until December with all the new players finding chemistry (fans lose their minds and call for major changes)
- Start to find a groove and close in on the top 2 teams in the division early 2023
- Have lots of pro rated capspace heading towards the trade deadline, make a move with a draft pick, highly touted prospect (Coronato?) and roster player for a star, scoring winger, possibly even just a rental.
Then the Flames continue their ascent and start to become a contender in the March/April months and come into the playoffs as one of the hottest teams.
