It's 7th all time.
But you either know that, or are a Yankees fan or just want to stir up debate that's been dead for years and serves no real purpose.

Not a Yankees fan and it’s a shame people let their anti Yankees feelings color their view of his season.
62 home runs is a magical number. Surely you realize why many people feel this way. You’re right the debate has been dead for years and I’m with the baseball writers in their views of the legitimacy of the tainted HR numbers.
Judge deserves his due and it’s a shame his accomplishment is diminished by what those other players did.

1998 was a crazy fun year watching baseball. Not sure how old you are, but it was epic watching McGwire and Sosa going blow for blow for the record.
Those guys won't get into the HOF for what they did, which is a fair and just punishment. But to somehow rationalize hanging an asterisk 20+ years after the fact is mind bottling. That was the steroid era, it happened and it's over. MLB didn't go back and garnish the stats of the pitchers who got busted for doping.

This has nothing to do with how popular the steroid era was and more about how stupid it was. Brady Anderson hit 51 home runs. The record book in baseball feels more important than in other sports and it's a shame those meatheads f***ed it up. There is an asterisk next to their numbers in my mind, no doubt about it.
Should the "official" record book have an asterisk? Who cares. Their numbers are tainted permanently regardless.
This is why Judge breaking Maris's number is so special.

Well if we're going to recognize Judge as the homerun king then the Astro's need to be stripped of their title

Hey now….
Bonds is the single season HR champ. Astros are 2017 WS champs. Can’t change it.
Is Bonds’ record tainted? For sure as is the Astros WS. And everyone gets to judge it differently.
My statement was kind of flippant, but IMO Judge deserves recognition as the clean HR champion. Just like teams that didn’t cheat and won the WS should be thought of differently than the Astros.

Let's wait 10 years and see if that's the case. It took time to out 25% of the league as juicers.
I don't expect Judge is...but Baseball has earned all skepticism that it gets. Especially this incompetent door Manfred.

But Judge is still the record holder for the American League, the other 3, McGuire, Bonds and Sosa were in the National league.

Why do they even separate hitting stats for NL and AL? The concept seems a little strange.

Well Ohtani became the first player in the World Series era to have enough plate appearances to qualify for the batting title and enough innings pitched for the ERA title. He likely doesn't win MVP, but elite level pitching plus an Allstar calibre bat is something else. Not sure if I'll see a season like that again in my lifetime.

Judge had one of the greatest seasons in the history of the sport, first in every meaningful category so he wins MVP going away. But doesn’t diminish what Ohtani did though.
And the Angels still suck.

This game is fast. 4 and a half innings in an hour.

Jose Siri breaks up the 0-0 tie with his first HR since Sept. 27 which was a HR in Cleveland; which was also off Shane Bieber.

Cards have blown it. 2-0 lead going into the top of the 9th have given up 3 runs and maybe more.

Cardinals fans are leaving already even though there’s a whole half inning left to go. And they call themselves the best fans in baseball. Lol

The fact that that game ended with Molina striking out on such a weak swing on an outside corner fastball brings me such joy. Lmao
