Just one example of his work, but I dig this guy's designs:

His concepts look awesome. I don’t know why corporate types gravitate towards consulting companies to come up with obscure explanations for the design when people don’t give a damn. Just give me something that looks cool and has a basic tie to the organization traditionally. Artists like this need to be hired.

I was not a fan of the Canucks ugly gradient experiment. I'd rather keep gradients off jerseys, I don't think they will age well. But still fun to see creative ideas.

It's not like the NHL has aged well bring back the pedestal with some gradient, and with a word mark that says Airdrie Flames of Calgary and Atlanta. Preferably with black but also a splash of blue for the various flags

I kind of like those concept jerseys. I would have to see them on the ice, but for street wear, I think they are pretty cool.

That's just it. That Wild jersey would look cool in person if someone was wearing it, but would look bland and boring on the ice in an actual game.

One problem with the gradient style jerseys is they all would likely have to be a sublimation style jersey, due to the design and colour gradients. Yes, a lot of European teams use sublimation, but I cannot see the NHL going towards this type of Jersey for daily on ice play.

Fanatics replacing Adidas as the NHL's official uniform partner
10 year deal.

That’s what I was thinking initially as well (discount rack) but you’d have to think a smaller manufacturer will put in more effort to make it work. Innovation with uniforms and logos in the past 15 years is non-existent in the nhl.

So, what happens to the retail jerseys? Aren't the current fanatics really cheap (quality-wise)?

Terrible news for people that actually expect their fan merchandise to be of even average quality.

I think the problem is that majority of consumers don't care about the quality; just as long as it looks close enough to the part. How many cheap counterfeits do you see in the dome and out on the street?

Fanatics likely just outbid the other manufactures since it's a good deal to get their brand on a major league. If they do stick with the same plant as Adidas is using for the game worn, there should be no difference from today.

Something interesting mentioned in the ESPN story on this that I wasn't aware of is Fanatics has owned Majestic since 2017 and even though the on-field jerseys for MLB and NFL are branded as Nike, they're still manufactured by Majestic (the wording of the article is strange, so I'm unclear if they make the player uniforms for the NFL or just the in-store "authentics").

Also, the on-ice jerseys will still be made at the same factory in Quebec where the Adidas (and Reebok and CCM) jerseys have been made for decades.

This seems more like a rebranding of what we already get than any kind of radical departure.
