I think this is Friedman just reiterating what he said on the radio late last week and really is nothing new.
I think through three games seeing that Peters is willing to move Ryan down (something many were worried wouldnt happen) and moving czarnik and Bennett up as a reward for good performances.
This will likely go a long ways, unlike last couple years where GG was so set in his lines and his guys and wouldn't reward good performance right away. I think Peters' meritocracy (for lack of a better comparison) is better than whatever you want to call GG's system and players will respond to it as there is pretty immediate feedback on what you are doing and it is less of GG where he seemed to just let players figure it out on their own.
Bennett will continue to grow as a flame and I honestly think he will make positive steps this year and just needed a coach who lets him know where he stands.
Edmonton totally deserves GG

Yeah, I can agree with that. More riding on the what if he breaks out than what he is currently doing. I still don't think he is hurting the team so might as well gamble on the unlikely breakout

Friedman on 960:
Intention was to say IF Calgary decided to move Bennett, there would be a ton of interest.
Steinberg says he heard that Bennett was involved in the Hamilton trade discussions with Carolina. (Friedman doesn't confirm or say anything about it).
Friedman says Flames will want a return equal to Bennett's potential but other teams will not pay that.
Friedman doesn't feel like the Flames are in any hurry to trade Bennett

Of course there would be, his value is much lower than what his toolbox projects him to become. I still think Bennett will be an impact player and it will bite this team in the butt if they were to sell low on him.

Not much of a talking point, really, other than to say other teams would be interested in buying low but that the Flames won’t sell low, and that Friedman doesn’t even think the Flames want to trade Bennett.
...so, that’s a whole lot of “let’s talk about Bennett for reasons”

If Bennett breaks out we will be a force.
Gaudreau, Monahan, Lindholm, Tkachuk and Bennett as our young offensive leaders complimented by Hanifin, Valimaki, Andersson and possibly Kylington on the backend..
The idea of it is too glorious to sell low on.

He also brought up the Hall trade of an example of selling low.

I think it came up on Calgary radio, and now he's using it as a way to get to 31.
Has to suck to find 31 things to talk about every week.

Because Nylander is better and likely improves your team and you need the cap space. I agree that it’s not good for UFA rep but you call solve that with NTC clauses.

This is very telling.
Supposedly, Sam was part of the original deal.

You mean the deal that didn't get made? In other words, the deal that was no deal?
All righty then.

I worked at a hotel over a decade ago and we did something similar. A guest requested a room change and we ended up going to the wrong room and moving the wrong stuff. After moving the luggage, we cleaned the room and checked someone else into it. When the guest's key wasn't working and he came to the desk, we discovered the error and couldn't even get him back into the original room. He was so pissed, the hotel made a new policy about moving luggage without having a guest present.

It is the furthest thing from telling, without more detail.
Scenario A: Treliving really wants to put Bennett in the deal but Carolina insists they want Ferland
Sceanario B: Carolina really wants Bennett but Tre will only give them Ferland

Given contract status I suspect its B
But to go further
Scenario C: Carolina really wants Sam. Tre will only give them Ferland. Carolina says fine but now you need to include Fox.
Scenario D: Deal includes Sam. Carolina asks for Fox to be included. Tre says fine but Sam comes out and Ferland goes in
Basically was the inclusion/exclusion of Sam also tied to the inclusion/exclusion of Fox?
