Dan and Buck talking about how crazy this game is. Literally never seen a team play as poor as they Jays did in the first 3 innings. And now the game is tied. Unbelievable.

Haha yeah. Looked at 2 strikes and a check swing. Also curious why they didn’t send Alford on the first or second pitch.

In 58 games now, Bichette has 80 hits, including 22 doubles, and 15 homes
insane

Romano gives up his first hit of the season on the 30th batter he's faced. Club record to start a season.

Ha. What a rollercoaster. If the Jays can’t come back in the bottom half this game will end like it began. With #####y baseball being played in the field.

Of course I go on a bike ride and miss all the action! Serves me right for being such a sourpuss anyways! Back just in time to see Dolis get touched up though!

shot their wad with Burecki and Romano too soon - having to go to Dolis was... unfortunate

this is why I was calling for Montoya to get tougher on them - if you tolerate mistakes, you get more and more mistakes. Yes, you have to be patient with the kids, but some things - basic fundamentals like running the bases and being aware of what's happening in the game - these mistakes are inexcusable
regarding Guerrero, I don't agree with you guys - he'll be fine
|
They're not kids though, they're men and professional baseball players in the major leagues. I'm not sure how Montoyo is handling the dumb/sloppy plays but I hope he's not coddling them.

I don’t trust Montoyo with anything. But he’s there for some basic guidance of these through these formative years of being into a cohesive club. When they turn the corner and are ready to take the next step, in theory, it’s then time to bring in a couple useful vets and a vet manager.

I would argue that they're ready now, and what is holding them back is the tolerance for mistakes. Will they make some - of course. But when it's an epidemic, like it currently is, it's time for some tough love.
At this point, they need leadership, from the veterans, from themselves, and from the coaches. If you continue to tolerate stupid mental mistakes, you risk becoming the Oilers.

There have been at least 3, and probably more like 5 games where they should have won, but mental mistakes turned a W into an L. They should be over .500 right now.

My goodness, is Vladmir Guerrero the biggest prospect flop in franchise history? What the hell happened to this kid?

He’s 21.... Not only that, but he’s probably working on his swing rather then just going up there with nothing on his mind but trying to mash like he used to do. He’ll get there.

Wow! Settle down. They just need to fix his launch angle and he'll be fine. The bad defense is likely because he is carrying his at-bats with him. He is absolutely smashing balls a lot of the time. The problem is, the ground is taking the brunt of too many of those.

His launch angle has been a problem since the minors, where it wasn't exposed as much by high end pitchers.
If he was mashing balls into the ground while working counts with good plate discipline, I wouldn't be worried. But he looks pretty lost at the plate and his discipline is nonexistant.
