This is the kind of crap i'm talking about. The "don't let the door hit you on the way out"/"we're too good for you"/"you're a ####ty person" type of comment is how the Oilers handle their departures. It's why they have a tough time attracting players. It speaks poorly for their market.
We're better than that. Stop it with this kind of crap. Jagr didn't work out. Fine. We're moving on. Wish him the best and thank him for the work he did with Bennett, Tkachuk and Jankowski while he was here.
Many sides...we're seeing lots of people dump on the Flames here. They gave him a shot when nobody else did...Guy is 46, it just didn't work out.
Looking for other teams is either a false rumor or an absolute joke...nobody wanted him when he was coming off an 81 game 46 point season.
End of the day...worth a shot, some good memories, too bad his health failed him. He isn't going elsewhere in the NHL
I think the Jagr signing worked out pretty good. It gave us a player who filled a spot until Jankowski, Hathaway, and Magipanie stole it. Jagr was signed because the AHL guys weren't quite ready. They showed they were ready and Jagr has fought injuries so you move on.
I for one enjoyed the experiment and think it benefitted the team.

He likely wouldn’t be into it, but it would be great if he took some sort of “coach” “advisor” role if he gets nothing else. I think the young guys learned a lot from him.

Well, except they were ready but management seemed to think Brouwer, Stajan, Glass, and F.Hamilton were somehow more deserving of those spots. This was evident as early as training camp.

I agree Janko showed he was ready in camp and I have no idea why he was sent down. The rest of those guys did sweet pi** all in camp and that's a big reason Jagr was signed.

It's a young man's game, time to move on. Everyone knew the risks no shame in any of this. He's just hasn't been the same since the groin injury. Skating's gone and so are the hands. Not enough time left in the season to wait for him.

I like what the Flames have been doing this season by bringing up players from the farm and what they have given us so far. Keep with the youth movement.

Hathaway I've never been high on and pretty much ignored in camp (although he did seem a better fit as a 4th liner than Glass, and I will give him credit, he's brought life to Janko and Bennett), but Eat Bread probably had the best camp of anyone not named Jankowski. I was understanding that guys like Brouwer and Stajan basically had to make the team because of their ungodly salaries and you don't want a prospect sitting as a 13th/14th forward, but make no mistake that was definitely not a decision made on merit alone.
I liked the Jagr signing for novelty value and the hopes that maybe he'd fit in on the first line given his productivity in Florida, but with Ferland stepping into that role and Jagr battling health and fitness issues all year this one was pretty easy to see coming.
