as I said before, I'm liking Metal Murray. spicier both on court and off...hoping he sticks around for the 2022 tour at least to yell at this new generation of antivax toilet coach video game addiction domestic abusers.

Well, if nothing else Jack, it should keep men's tennis interesting - Djokovic is seen as a villain to some, but it appears we have some new villains in the pipeline in Zverev and Cheatsipas. Let's hope our clean cut Canadian lads are up to the challenge.
So far so good for Denis. He had a few hiccups on his serve early on with 3 pretty quick double faults, so that's a concern, but in rallies and on the return especially he's been very patient and conservative, not going for outright winners or big shots to turn the point in his favour (other than one 2nd serve he murdered). A lot of balls well inside the lines but with lots of pace on them, definitely not just getting them in but also not trying to paint lines. It's exactly how he should play, and it's working.

This is getting pretty painful to watch... since Debonis was up 2-1, Denis has won 8 straight games. Not even competitive.
EDIT: 9 games in a row.

Announcer 1: "I'm racking my brain trying to figure out what Delbonis can do to have some more success here... trying to think of what I would tell him if I was his coach, and I've got nothing."
Announcer 2: "How about an 8 minute bathroom break?"
Announcer 1: "That might help."
Savage.
Denis serving for the set... well, that's the worst drop shot in the history of tennis right there.

Denis takes the second set. He has lost ten points on his serve, total. Five of those were double faults.

Shapo wins 6-2 6-2 6-3 - A fine effort, only minor quibble are the double faults, but if he can clean that up a little, he should be primed to make a run.

That and his forehand return in the third set. He was sending those long for no reason and it clearly was bothering him.
When his first serve goes in, it's lethal. Better than it's ever been. He just needs to get from his current mid-50s in first serves in to mid-to-high-60s, and that will make a world of difference.

Vasek drops the first set 6-2 to Fognini - Fabio isn't doing anything special, Vasek is just playing poorly thus far (to be fair, he started to play better in the latter part of the set).
