Harris did exactly what the Dems were hoping for. She stay composed and allowed Pence to show he had no respect for a woman and would just talk right over her. Trump was a cast as a bully after the debate, and Pence will be cast as a chauvinistic piece of ####, flies and all, in the days to follow. Pence needed to be on issue, on message, and show a modicum of respect toward his female counterpart to make up for the disaster of the Trump performance, and show the whole ticket wasn't a pair of insane clowns. Pence failed miserably.

I was simplifying an appeal to pathos, but I agree with you.

GOP bar is so low Pence constantly lies, doesn't answer questions, talks over everyone, tries to mansplain a women in her field of expertise, and gets credit for not looking like a raving lunatic

But I would not call it a decisive victory for either side.

This debate surprised me after following the run up story that Harris was going to destroy Pence, this was decently fought from both sides.

I'm astonished trump did not tweet 100's of times instead of maybe a dozen... Likely he needs another injection?

The fly is funny, but that needs to be shooed away immediately.
Pun and focus both intended.

It will be interesting to find out what Pence actually thinks of Trump after the ass kicking in November

Anyone watching the Washington State governor debate? Came on right after the Vice P debate.
This R guy is getting DESTROYED...getting called out for all the Trump lines. We have gotten used to Trump spouting all this BS its seems even crazier when a seemingly regular person says it. No climate change, no racism, they took our jerbs.
This clown just said "The forest fires were co-ordinated!"

I’m always amazed at how quickly these come out, but per the CNN instant poll of registered voters watching the debate, more people thought Harris won the debate than Pence.
https://www.cnn.com/2020/10/07/polit...oll/index.html
She really just needed to play defence and not give Pence an opportunity to change the narrative. I doubt the debate mattered at all, which likely helps the Biden ticket in that one more opportunity for Trump to shake things up has slipped away.

Decently fought? Pence answered no questions, interrupted, mansplained, and had no answer for the criminally negligent loss of American lives and jobs.

This I think is an important point.
Biden campaign is currently about as much ahead as anyone expected them to ever be, possibly more so. This isn't a time to swing for the fences in a VP debate. The Trump campaign desperately needed a win, Dems just needed to not give them anything and make sure Harris comes out looking like a reasonable, non-threatening, qualified politician.
If Harris does anything that stands out too much, the Republicans could go all in on "this crazy terrorist socialist liberal black woman could be the next president, you really want that, it would be the end of America!?!?!" and that might work, because as we all know they're a really sexist and racist country.
That was the real game here, and Pence clearly lost and Harris won.
It will likely not move any needles, but it wasn't supposed to be. What it will likely do is calm down some voters who were already leaning Biden but quietly worried about Harris.
