Just because I haven't given up on him, I voted for Gillies. But what do I know? Last year I had hopes for a breakout year for Mason McDonald...

ya, I don't think I can vote for a goalie for at least another few rounds. There are many players that may eventually get a sniff of being part of the NHL roster, even as a healthy scratch during injuries in the next few seasons, whereas the goalies are complete unknowns as far as ceiling and timeline.

I voted for Petterson. Was making this one a private poll intentional?

I went with MEP on the basis that his upside is high and he is doing it at college vs juniors. I like Parsons potential but goalies scare me as it is so unknown. Look at all the goalies that the flames have failed to develop.

Pettersen absolutely here. Going Pospisil next.

Nikolaev then Pospisil
Pettersen and Phillips seem very top 6 or bust to me but the potential is definitely there

Interesting to see the recency bias created by the timing of this ranking and the development camp. I like MEP but 3 days in the summer not enough for such a jump to 5. Thrilled he has exceeded expectations though!
Parsons for me since high ceiling still intact. Capable of the 10 bell saves like no other goalie prospect. Reminded by a few of them at last years training camp.
Also nice string of great play last season in AHL too although lots of inconsistency.
Just needs to keep mentally strong and avoid injuries. Hoping for a full uninterrupted AHL season so we can finally see what we have.
His "gives a heck" meter is very high and his list of successes hard to ignore.
Will stick with him until selected.

That does not make us nuts. Your not having him on your radar is entirely on you - he is a legit prospect.

We're basically talking long shots from here on out.
Parsons, because he could have the highest impact.

Pettersen at this moment in time but I still hope Parsons has a big season

IMHO...
most over-rated so far: Pettersen
most under-rated so far: Gillies
Yes, goalies are unpredictable, but that doesn't mean they aren't legit prospects. Gillies has played 12 NHL games already, and will almost certainly play more this year.

I don't think I'd put Gillies in my top 20. His goose is almost totally cooked to me.

This is where things get interesting.
The top 4 was pretty obvious IMO.

Why do you assume people are picking Pettersen on the basis of his performance at development camp? I can't speak for everyone (and I won't presume to), but I have personally been pretty high on Pettersen since January/February, and especially following a really good rookie season in college. Reports of his solid showing last week (I have not seen any camp footage) only solidifies my previously held impression of him.

At least 10, and probably more like 15 of the 'top 20' will never get a sniff of the NHL. Gillies has been called up two years in a row. At 25, as a goalie, his goose is still between rare and blue.

I picked Pettersen because it seems like he has the most impressive stats for his age (other than Wolf, but he's a goalie).
It seems like the Flames are good at drafting in the 4th and 6th rounds. And this goes quite far back.
I hope they don't make any Fantenberg-like trades in which they just throw away 4th/3rd round picks for almost nothing. Props to the Flames for drafting and developing well in the middle of the draft.

Gillies won't be playing NHL games unless Talbot or Rittich go down with a significant injury I would presume.
