We have a Ninja as well and the wife swears by it. For myself it makes some of the best wings and dry ribs that I've ever had

Can I use the convection feature on my oven and get the same results?

Honestly I have never used that feature.

We use ours daily. It reheats pizza good as well. The kids know how to use it and can heat up Meatballs or Chicken Nuggets for themselves.

I don’t think you do as the air fryer is directly above the food vs. More or less the same size pushing air from the back of the oven. Scale wise the air fryer seems better. But again, if you’re making a family size meal of day four or five people, you have to use the oven.

I always use convection on my oven. It's just a fan moving hot air around, seems to make more sense to keep it evenly heated and cook faster.

Are you telling me they sold me on an air fryer feature on my oven and it is just convection oven?

I have no idea. I didn't tell you that, talk to the sales guy.

I would say they're over rated. If you eat a lot of the frozen boxed/ prepackaged foods the air fryer will give you better results, how ever if you like to make your dinners from scratch, it will cozy up nice to your bread maker.

It's also replaced my microwave for reheating a lot of things without making them soggy. Pizza is great

It is hands down the single best way to quickly reheat pizza I have ever found. Forget the microwave. Air fry or die.

I cook almost all my meals in this thing now. I love it. I'm back on the keto train, and if I want a pork chop or chicken breast I chuck it in the air fryer. 20 minutes later I have a chicken salad. Costco pork chops are great, and the chicken wings are UNREAL.

My niece was making cakes in hers. My kid made french toast and hash browns yesterday before school.

There is no limit, and no rules to what you can and can't do in them. I covet this one

One difference between air fryers and most convection ovens is that with an air fryer, the fan is directly behind the heating element, while most conventional convection ovens have heating elements at top/bottom and a fan at the back. Intuitively it makes sense that heat can get distributed faster with the fan behind the heating element, but who knows how they actually compare. So maybe if your oven has a fan at the top behind the element that's what makes it an "air fryer" oven?

I couldn't disagree more. AFs are not just for "boxed" food. Anything you put in the oven goes in the AF. If you want a crispy finish the AF is just soo much better. Veggies, Fish (salmon is amazing), Shrimp...meat, flatbread, pies, crisps, baked pastas. All amazing...just have to do a little research on the methods. Only downsides are cooking size (the answer is more AFs), noise (on some), and potential smell (on some).

For us the air fryer is like a lot of appliances where you use them a lot at first but then it ends up sitting in a pantry or closet collecting dust. I'm sure there are bigger ones out there but you just can't cook enough food in ours for more than two people. It does do a good job on fries, wings, etc so if you eat those kinds of foods frequently and you only have to feed one or two people it's pretty useful.

Convection is the only way to cook frozen pizza and get satisfactory results IMO.

I'm making fries for lunch as we speak! Honestly I use mine almost every day. It's great for pre packaged stuff, but it's also really good for cooking things if you're in a hurry or don't want to turn on your oven for a quick meal. I do a lot of veggies, sides and dinners in mine. Roasted chicken breast takes no time to cook, meatballs are great, prawns, you name it.

Best Buy has a $50 Black Friday sale discount on Instant Vortex, which has a very high review rating. This is the one I bought.
