In another photo they uploaded, they have trucks carrying steel products to that site. I'm no structural engineer but that seems to imply either a crib wall or bailey bridge.

When they said Highway 1 would be open by the end of January, I guess they didn't specify for what mode of transportation.

Is that the section where the railway passes over the highway that was totally washed out underneath? They filled that gap in quickly!
I guess now the highway traffic just needs to jump the tracks.

I wonder if it is because other sections of the road will take longer to fix, so this gives them a chance to replace the rail bridge(while having an open route) and not affecting the highway that couldn't open anyway. Once the rail bridge is fixed, they can do the road.

That's the kind of selfless sacrifice we've come to expect as Canadians...making sure vacations will still be taken while slowing the movement of essential supplies across the country after a devastating disaster. Nice.

Yeah, its wouldn't be an issue if we didnt lose last christmas due to a pandemic, too. My livelihood is within the supply chain, but asking many Canadians to miss Christmas with family for 2 straight years is also a sacrifice.....

Need to expedite some passports for my kids for this to be an option. Not sure about testing logistics, either.

Yup. And this article suggests it might continue through the holidays:

While that is a decent option, it doesn't always work. Snoqualmie pass (I 90), the main pass, was closed for several hours due to vehicles spinning out on the ice and snow.
