Blake Coleman for a letter?
Is there a case to be made for the C?
He could play a big enough role, has two rings, you can pretty much guarantee he's on the ice a lot in big situations. Is he a vocal leader in the room?
Certainly think he could get an A at least.

no. You can't give a person who hasn't played a game for the org the captaincy.

I've always found it awkward when free agents or recently acquired players get a letter. "Hey, we know what we have in the locker room... but we've heard about what this guy brought to another locker room and that's clearly better"

Too early. The guy does strike me as a winner so I can definitely see him wearing an A in the not too distant future.

Always difficult for us fans to guess who will wear letters on a team. All we see is the on ice product and get some insight from reporters. But we don’t actually know what goes on behind closed doors, and that is where it counts the most.
Fun to talk about it, but it’s pure speculation.

Judging on what we've seen from this room... Hard to argue it could be worse

I don't think it would be a bad idea to play out the year without a captain and make that decision next season.

Never been a fan of this. Every team has a Captain wether the letter is there or not, and it just tells the guys with the A you aren't good enough to have it.
I can't recall a single Stanley Cup winner who didn't have an assigned Captain. The closest to that? The '89 Flames (if I remember correctly) we had 3 guys rotating the C

Even he wore the A at first and wasn't named captain until later.

Meh. I think the team captaincy is one of the most overrated elements of team success or failure. Especially on a team with a veery strong personality like Daryll Sutter's behind the bench, it won't matter at all who is wearing the small-C.

Love the signing, but Blake Coleman isn’t Messier or Weber LOL
My guess is we go without a captain this year. Unless Chucky signs a long extension and Darryl gives him the reigns.

I believe in the Jays.

I don't think we have a C this year... maybe Backlund if they insist on having one but unlike when Iggy left we don't have a clear successor.

Nope. He was on 960 and said he isn't a big rah-rah guy in the room.

Don't be the oilers and give the C like to Andrew Ference like they did before playing a game.
