He lost the starters job five years ago in Pittsburgh
Yeah, and then went on to win two rounds while splitting time with Murray the next season on the way to a second consecutive Cup victory. And then the next year followed that up with a third consecutive appearance in the SCF.
Fleury has played in FIVE finals over his 17-year career, and has won three times. I don't really care how many times he has "lost" his starters job given that track record. He is already one of the all-time great NHL goalies.

He won one Cup as a starter, Osgood too went to the finals five times ( and actually won two as a starter). Neither one is one of the all-time great goalies.

Ooooof. Lehner first on the ice for warmups, so it looks like indeed, he'll be starting. I'm not sure about this move after his terrible performance against Colorado and Fleury's great play throughout the playoffs except for a couple of misplays.

Yeah, if I were a VGK fan this would not inspire any confidence at all.

I googled Osgood and I'll just take this except from an article arguing whether he should be in the Hall of fame:
"Osgood is statistically one of the most consistent goaltenders to have ever played the game. He has the seventh-best GAA of all time, and has the fourth-highest winning percentage in the NHL history." ... "He's also only the 10th goaltender to win 400 games, joining an elite list of players in that regard. Oh, and he's also won three Stanley Cups, two as the starter."
Osgood was a very good goalie whose biggest fault is he played for one of the most dominant teams in the 90-00s. I can't argue if he would have put up great stats with bad teams but I can say he was an all-time great goalie based on the reality of his stats and cup wins.

Who was the starter in 2017? Murray started 11 games and won 7. Fleury started 15 and won 9. That Championship is at least as much his as it is Murray's.
As for Osgood, where does he rank on these lists?
MA Fleury:
- 3rd in wins
- 15th in shutouts
- 5th in playoff seasons
- 1st in consecutive playoff seasons
- 4th in playoff wins
- 4th in playoff shutouts

Osgood and Fleury were/are good to very good goalies who have inflated stats due to playing on some stacked teams.Neither ever won a Vezina and neither should be in the conversation as one of the greatest ever.

Fleury could win the Vezina this year. By the time his career is over he will likely be miles ahead of Osgood in every meaningful category.

For most of his career, Fleury wasn't even considered a top 5 among ACTIVE goalies, nevermind being considered one of the best ever.
