Have Denis and Milos been hanging out. I’m getting a vibe here.

Even if Shapovalov loses this match he just needs to take some confidence from being able to hang with Djokovic.
He may have come up just short on some big points, but overall he's hung right in there with a guy that has just been steamrolling people.

Yeah, the goal for this set has to be that whoever wins it has a 7 next to their name.
Not sure if it'll happen though. This service game and the last for Denis have looked fairly loose.

There's no way the Denis of even 12 months ago is hanging with Novak like he is in this 3rd set. What a match by Shapo today.

He's already won 15 games off Novak - has anyone else done that in this tournament?

No. He's the first guy to make Djoker even have to win more than 6 games in a set more than once.

Are you kidding me on that forehand down the line at 15-30?!? What a shot.
Edit: The one on break point was even better lol

Man just poor service games at the end of each set was the difference today.

The mistake on that service game was at 15-30 the shot before he missed wide, he had a perfect opportunity to come in and end the point.
Honestly, I think Denis should be training on the basis that shots on the line are out. He'd be so much more successful hitting them just as hard but being a little safer on placement.

Could be easy to get frustrated with this match but I think there is a tremendous amount of positives Dennis can take from this match. Had he played anyone else in the planet today he probably wins.

Unfortunate result, but a tremendous performance from Shapo today - this effort will very likely launch a new level for him.

22 years old - I'd say the future is bright for Denis.

I ain't even mad. if this is Shapo still 3-4 years away from his prime, then we tennis fans are in for some good times over the next decade. add Felix, Leylah and Bianca and it won't be long before we're crushing tennis beers together shirtless Kucherov style.

"The Tsitsipas fans acted like they'd won the Championships after the first set. Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? His finals was the semis."
Denis is defending a bunch of points at the US Open but otherwise has some opportunities to make a few gains.

Shapo has shown us that the talent is there for some time. Today I think he showed that he can harness and elevate that talent.
I am now much more confident that there are major titles in his future than I was before this match.
