Glass body. Won't amount to much. Should have traded him when we had the chance. Now Treliving doesn't have the Stones to build a better club.
Don't take that seriously.

team gets knocked out 1st round for being too small and none of you have a problem with having a toothpick on the blue line who thinks he's better than he is. can't stand the guy.

He looked absolutely physically dominated in those 0 playoff games he played .
Yet, his skating ability showed extreme promise to allow him to not only play, but be a very effective dman at the NHL level....
Your take seems a bit harsh for a guy who's done nothing but progress into a NHL level asset since being drafted. Not every player is going to be a rugged bruiser, and that's ok.

there's a reason why Treliving followed up by saying they're "looking for help on the back end"[COLOR=inherit !important]

I thought that Kylington acquitted himself very well on the third pairing last season. I don't see why they would instantly start talking about looking at external options. Davidson was presumably signed to fill that 7D role and they have a talented young D man in Kylington who played exactly the same role last season and the team thrived.
I'd prefer that they just stick with what they've got instead of waste valuable cap space on the 6D.

Team needs defensive depth, if injuries happen. If another injury happens, I am not sure if they are comfortable with Davidson getting a regular role.

Not every player is the same or every tear is the same, but Antoine Roussel tore his ACL in March and he's expected back in December-ish. There is some optimism it could be sooner.
Brendan Morrison tore his ACL in March 2018 but came back sooner and played 81 games the next year.
A lot will come down to what other ligaments (if any) were damaged in the tear.
One thing to keep in mind as well, if/when Valimaki does return this year, he likely won't be back to where he was pre-injury for another 9 to 12 months after that. Even when you're healthy enough to play post-ACL tear, you need more time to get back to being "right."

^^I am sure you meant 2008 for Morrison.
But yeah, those are all promising. And we all do have to be patient with his recovery.

If that is the case, then I find their recent acquisitions on defence a little suspect. They traded for Valiev who is at the age (24) where he should be a realistic option to fill in for injuries, they have Davidson who has played 162 games in the NHL and is passed the age of significant development at 27, Yelesin is 23 and has played 3 seasons in the KHL.
Shouldn't these guys be options during injuries?
Maybe they will trade Frolik and bring back a replacement level D man and it will still help out with their cap situation, but if they are just going to sign another guy for depth then I think it would be disappointing for Kylington to be bumped from a top 6 spot. The silver lining to this whole situation for me is that they now have a spot for Kylington in the NHL and it would be a great opportunity for him to establish himself.

I am adamant that I don't think the barrier to acquiring Stone was trading Valimaki.
Rumors were that a deal was agreed in principle on that Sunday night. My guess is the barrier to acquiring Stone was the $9.5 - $10M cap hit that he was looking for.
This team already is fighting for cap space...where would they be if they had $9.5M of Stone to deal with too?

I personally don't think it would necessarily be someone to supplant Kylington. When all the conversations were taking place about Brodie being on the way out, it was with Kylington probably stepping in. Brodie probably doesn't get traded now. It would be someone more akin to a Fantenberg type of player. Someone who can steady a bottom pairing and doesn't need the most number of minutes necessarily. Kylington (or even Andersson) can have growing pains still happening. It will be a player who will switch around in the bottom pairing throughout the season.
Yelesin is still green when it comes to the American game. He might be ready to play in the NHL, or he would need some seasoning to get ready to the NHL ice/play style. Valiev, I am not sure about. Davidson doesn't really get me too confident. I think he was brought in more as an AHL vet, as opposed to a #7, though I might be completely off-base. Also I would rather have a #6/#7 (capable of playing 60/70 games) as opposed to a #7 (Akin to what Prout was last year - 20/25 games)
