I'm not surprised that United won.
McTominay-Eriksen-Fernandes vs Milner-Henderson-Elliott is a rare occurrence where United probably had the midfield advantage.
Maguire being on the bench just really evens the playing field. And I think Maguire somehow took over VVD body on that Sancho goal because that was just horrible.

Liverpool will really miss Mane I think, Darwin has big shoes to fill. Plus not having Thiago or Jota, they are lacking a lot right now.

Yeah, I think Mane hurts then with the press in particular. But I also think the midfield seems to be an issue, and probably Henderson at 36 years old is probably becoming an issue.

Worst 20 minutes I've seen VVD play
Trent was leisurely jogging back on that, and somehow VVD looked even worse
Best game Sancho has had since he left Dortmund

Maybe it’s the picture quality or something, but I can’t say I’m a huge fan of the kit choices for this Southampton/United match. Maybe it’s easier for the players though.

must be your picture quality I don't see an issue, apart from the fact that the United kit is absolutely hideous.

Picture quality, early morning and maybe…I’m an old man!
United seems pretty lucky to have escaped without a penalty thus far, but I haven’t watched the whole game.

nah. Never a pen.
United clearly still have problems when they have more of the ball, it's a bit too static in times ... Eriksen can unlock things, but the likes of Elanga lack the quality to take advantage of it. Was a brilliant goal by Bruno though.

I don’t know, I think it’s more than a little fortunate to have 2-3 handballs in a sequence and not even have the ref take a look.

they did a VAR check. But that's just not a handball.
EDIT: two wins in a row and a cleansheet! What kind of sorcery is this? lol

Ugly ugly win.
I'm guessing proximity is what saved McT but I think that should have been easily called. Maybe not for the first handball in the sequence but the third.
It's the end of August.. Three weeks in. And that St Mary's pitch looks rough already.

certainly didn't have City being down 2-0 at home against Palace on my bingo card.

Palace have got to be the most consistently underrated team in soccer history.
This despite a long run of achieving results against the big teams over a number of years.

Liverpool looking irresistible today. Klopp's big meeting with the players obviously having the desired effect.

And then he puts another off the post! Should be 2-0. Actually on 2nd look, a nice save.

Leicester look absolutely terrible. They have lost all the steam they had in those years after the title win ... but I guess those 75m for Fofana will be a nice cushion when they're relegated.

Pretty grim start to the year for Leicester, 1 point from 12 is ugly.

Haaland is such a freak, the way he just manhandles defenders like they're children is ridiculous.
