I was hoping for a win tonight not a loser point. We needed the two points because we don't know which Flames team will show up tomorrow.

Probably
I stick with combos because the other lines are going well
And I stick with them on the pp because they need to play there way out of the funk
What precisely would you do?
Bag skate?

I’d argue the system has looked good more often than not for the past while and the team has dramatically improved defensively since that train wreck of a start.
I guess it’s too much to ask the top guys to play both ends of the ice.
I don’t know, I’m just as frustrated as a lot of people here but to continuously blame the coach is laughable. There needs to be some accountability on the players.

Why is shot totals suddenly the end all be all of indicators? Calgary sat back it was obvious.

It feels like Brent Sutter in so many ways. Try to control the whole game and one mistake results in a loss. The players tighten up and nothing gets done. I agree with you entirely...our first line used to be whichever line was on the ice with Gio and Brodie.

We've now blown by the point of "I need to see this team do something soon for me to believe" to "please god don't give a lottery pick to the Islanders for Travis freakin Hamonic".

I agree. It’s baffling. Why is it so hard to get everyone rolling at the same time?

Hey man, whatever floats your boat, but regardless of what you wanna do this was a good, even and entertaining hockey game and the Flames played well in a tough building. I was just as pissed off as anyone about the effort in the loss to Montreal, so there is actually a way to pick your spots.

Honestly, who didn't see that coming? It felt like an inevitability to me. Quality teams find a way to win. Teams like the Flames find a way not to win. The Sharks took 4/4 points from us in the last two games. We took 1/4 points. There is no moral victories in those outcomes. Every single point is huge in the new NHL and a division rival went +3 vs the Flames in that regard in the last two week. I don't care what the advanced stats say about those two games or the games against the Wild, the Preds, or the Habs. This team is not very good.

I would play them less. I'd take Ferland off the first line and I'd start Jankowski/Bennett or Backlund/Frolik on the first pp unit. clearly having them play out of the funk hasn't been working as evident on our last ~32 PP's.

What other changes can you make at this point to turn it around? I don't think you have he luxury of riding out the 8 game losing streak as the flames did a few years ago under Hartley. So what other options do you have?
|
I don’t have the answers that’s for sure. This team is infuriating.

Maybe it's false hope. If it's not coaching we are a bubble team without a first and three wildcard central teams better than us.
