Treliving has to have higher expectations for this team. If Gulutzan hasn't made an impact by now, he has to know he never will.

This team is in no way comparable to Vegas. They are fast and deep. We are slow and shallow.

Top line carried the team when the bottom 6 couldn’t buy a point. Now the bottom 6 is proving some scoring and the top line goes dry. This team doesn’t put it alll together and are spinning their tires stuck 2-4 games over .500 the entire season.

I'm glad they'll stop mentioning it because the streak ended after game 3 of the playoffs last year. Playoffs >>> Regular season

Close but wrong.

Biggest problem is lack of defensive production to open up the game for every line, including the first.

3 on 5 offense is not sustainable.

I’m so sick and tired of GG and his failure of a so called system.

Sat back based on what exactly? The fact they didn't extend the lead and SJ tied it? Doesn't mean the Flames sat back.
The Flames had the lead and lost plain and simple.

Watching other teams I keep saying, wow that's how you push the pace and attack. Only time we get that with the Flames is in OT and when they're down a few goals. Calgary has way too much skill to be playing a "don't beat yourself" brand of hockey.

The bottom line is, if they were playing well on home ice and getting points like this on the road, nobody is upset but this team is the definition of inconsistent. How does our top line just vanish out of nowhere?

If you were the coach and the top line hasn't been getting it done for a while would you continue to play them top line minutes and on the first power play? would you continue playing them together?

I would be curious to see how much of that production can be attributed to the PP going in the toilet and the lack of adjustments by the coaching staff to matchups. Anecdotally, I am thinking of the first Philly game as a place where the top line had a huge production night with the PP.

What other changes can you make at this point to turn it around? I don't think you have he luxury of riding out the 8 game losing streak as the flames did a few years ago under Hartley. So what other options do you have?

A repost:
Dec 28 2002 D Sutter hired as coach. Calgary was 10-18-5-3 and bottom of WC. Ended season 29-36-13-5 , so 19-11-8-2 under him.

Dec 28 2010 D Sutter fired as GM

Dec 28 2017 ??...... Flames lose 19th game, in shootout, to drop winning percentage below .500

Moral victories now count in the standings which is awesome and this team is going to shoot right to the top of the division. I’m with those fans that are happy with mediocrity, this was a good effort and just not our night again. Aw shucks and/or curses. Rittich seemed decent so that’s a plus, hopefully Smith plays better tomorrow. A regulation win is something this team needs badly.

Playing a good game or not, it doesn't matter in the standings. The only thing that does is results. Loser points, especially against divisional rivals, is not good enough with the position this team put themselves in.

All that matters is results. If they win, good. If they don't - including losing points - not good. OTLs would be tolerable if this team hasn't pooched the first third of the season so royally.

Team needs results. Teams needs win. Playing good, but not winning is not gonna get them into the playoffs.

First line needs to be productive again. Team needs goals and they aren't producing them.

Neato. How does that equate to sitting back?

The Flames outshot SJ in the 3rd. It's a dumb thing to claim when it wasn't the case.

I know tha that’s your narrative but the top line isn’t generating enough chances and not finishing when they get them
Bad decision making and lack of push
Not on the d

Keep beating the drum man. The team/coaching is not a cup team. End of the day its just not working.
