Played shinny this morning and my daughter came out to play as well.

We really enjoyable to be on the ice with her.

How did the ice hold up with your overwhelming and ever-growing weight?

It has been useful, the puck get's stuck in my gravitational field and is difficult to dislodge.

I just had the crispest and perfectly tart-sweet honeycrisp and it made me think that UCB knows almost nothing about apples.

It’s nice getting money back however it also means that the government had an interest free loan from you in that amount the whole time. That RGMG as they won’t pay interest but are quick to charge you the interest.

Umm... but if you calculate the interest on the refund over the 4-6 months or you actually "loaned" (ie: your last few tax withholdings to equal to the refund) it's basically very difficult to exceed like $100 you lost out on, isn't it?

For instance a $4,000 refund at 5% for 6 months is $100.

I don't get why you'd be mad at the government in that scenario when you should be complaining to HR/payroll that the withholdings from your pay cheques are too aggressive.

The average person is pretty crappy at putting money aside, especially for their tax bill. They'll basically spend whatever they have. CERB had countless examples of this.

Back on topic though, WRMMH was having a conversation a few days ago with a neighbor about his reno and being invited over to see the end result. It felt so... normal and nice.

How are people able to do their taxes already? I usually don't get all my slips until late March.

The slowest slips are usually T4, T3 and T5013. If you don't have any of those, I guess it's possible you might be able to file by now.

When you are living on government pensions CRA already has all the info on line, punch a button and most of the work is done. A few T5’s, some medical claims and presto! Free money- my money- outside my budget, which will be spent foolishly

Got my T4's mid-Feb, like I usually do. Can't imagine them showing up so late as late March. Maybe ask your HR to step it up, or call the CRA for the info yourself?

Isn’t there a deadline for employers providing T4s? I thought it was the end of February.

You could also check your CRA account to see if it’s been uploaded already.

You can get your HR to change how much they deduct based on your personal information if you’d like to target a smaller refund.

It’s not the T4’s, those are good. It’s the T5’s, RRSP slips, bank forms
, school forms etc. That seem to take forever to arrive. But I keep forgetting some may be on my CRA account already.

Drove out to Canmore and back in the thick fog. It was somewhat surreal, but...oddly relaxing. Quite enjoyable.

My home and vehicle insurance went down this year. What kind of witchcraft is this?! About $200/year less. I have had no contact with them; this is simply what came through in my renewal notice.

I sort of recall it decreasing a little bit every year back in the 2000s maybe, but then went up a little bit every year for the next 10-15 years.

You have a Mustang GT, right? I love how much you enjoy going for drives. Good for you. I have to make more time for that as I love it as well.

Yup! Driving has really been a savior for my mental health. Just get in and...go. Saw a lot of beautiful stuff last year. Was thinking about doing it again this year, but with gas going nuts, gonna have to watch that.

Quick shot of her after the drive yesterday and the errands today. Not quite as dirty looking as she can be, due to the snow being pretty wet still, but...she's no Garage Queen

Spoiler!

I gotta pull past years insurance rates cos I swear both my home and auto increased dramatically on the updates I pulled from the mail yesterday. Not to mention the BS with monthly automated charges for EACH account. Ffs it’s automated, there is no human component or work. Who should I be looking at for better rates? Sigh…
