Let it be noted that I'm still pulling for Marianne Williamson. Save the galaxy.

I would've called this thread "The Hunt for Blue November".

It says October, though. A blue October is no good, that's what we had last time, up until this happened...

If a James Comey doesn't James Comey this thing up at the 11th hour again, I like the looks of the polls.

Watched the video of Rayshard Brooks and can't believe some people want the police who shot put up on murder charges. The mayor is also an idiot.

What ####ing planet am I on that I'm defending cops?

The cops tried to de-escalate this drunk driver for almost a half hour, when he then attacked 2 cops, fought them, stole a tazer which he shot at them, and then tried to run off with the weapon. And he got shot.

Wow, what a shock. I guess the cops should have let him go so he could come back to his car later, drive drunk and possibly run over a child.

Our society is ####ed.

Yes, that's what happens. The cops just leave the car and have no choice but to murder an outnumbered man with a non-lethal weapon for there is nothing they could possibly do to stop him from getting back in his car. I mean they couldn't tow the car, call in more police to track down and control the individual, or anything like that. Definitely had to shoot him in the back.

Nailed it.

Dude, impound his car. They have his ID. Arrest him a short time later after he sobers up. What was he doing that he deserved to be summarily executed? Running away with a taser in his hand?

How are you so desensitized to death that anything you just listed as happening in that encounter is deserved of being shot multiple times by the cops?

Our society is certainly ####ed, but it's ####ed because we have lost the ability to empathize. Killing doesn't mean anything to us anymore.

Which video? Because the first one I saw was the one that starts while he's being handcuffed, and just shows the resisting arrest / assault part. The second one I saw shows what led up to it and his conversation with the officers. My initial reaction was more favourable to the police as a result (though I was nowhere near as certain as you seem to be that the shooting was excusable), but if you see the conversation beforehand and see the whole incident in its full context, it becomes pretty clear that the guy wasn't some violent maniac who needed to be shot.

So they should have let him run away? What happens if he comes back to his car later, still drunk and runs over someone? Then what?

He's demonstrated a willingness to attack the police, and, steal weapons and use them. The police have a responsibility to protect themselves but also society and other law abiding citizens who aren't drunk driving and attacking people
