Ranchmen’s For Lease.
https://pubsforsale.ca/mylistings.ht...-0p6.92820586/
Not like I go here but it is a Calgary staple and I believe the only true country dance hall in the city. (Cowboys is not).
Say’s it’s for lease but there is no indication on Ranchman's website that the business is shutdown. I’m sure it’s done though, no clients and no stampede. The service industry is super fragile.

People like to rag on that place, but some of the best dancing clubs I’ve seen.

I've never been to Wurst, and Ranchman's only a couple of times, but moving to the Wurst location seems like a pretty big step down for them in terms of size and accessibility.
I guess it puts them within walking distance of the Stampede Grounds, but outside of that, it seems like an odd decision.

Unless the lease is super cheap, yeah, I'm not sure I believe the rumour either

Well, no parking for one, likely higher rent, a much, much stricter enforcement on noise violations.
I could think of a number of drawbacks.
The real head-scratcher is...if you're the owner of Ranchmans' building, why on Earth didnt you negotiate a lower lease arrangement? Even for the short term?
Who the hell do they think is going to move in to that location?

Philistine. Its not everyone's fault that you cant appreciate the musical intricacies of the Tuba and the Accordion and a giant ass Drum.

Ya, can't imagine it going to Wurst. Their number one seller, during stampede, is their tent and the Bull Busting event. Noise violations for sure. Just seems like the wrong district as well.

They don’t host bull bustin anymore. It was at grey eagle this year. They wanted a larger cut from the charity. They did hold their own competing event this year though.

Anyone familiar with economics of the old location? I haven’t been in about 5 years.
For Wurst (been a year), they never seemed to be able to make the upstairs portion work; about 1/2 of their foot print.
Perhaps Ranchmans, can draw from their loyal clients, and with the added benefit of more sq/ft, and central location, can do better.

I think Ranchmans is for lease at 18.50 a sq ft and it's about 5500 sq ft. So it's not much based on that. But they also have operating costs I'm sure and they also have a couple acres of land they use for tents and concerts and stuff. I'm sure that's extra.
And in comparison I think Wurst was complaining that their rent was too high and their property tax was crazy. So it does seem like an odd move to me.
I'm surprised they didn't just wrap it up and call it a day. You can't replace what Ranchmans had at that location. I mean, I saw Honeymoon Suite there.

My guess is they land in a location in Vic Park right next to the new arena. Park of the revitalization plan. Kinda like Cowboys did.
Makes too much sense. The branding local and internationally is worth a fair bit. Them opening a similar setup to Cowboys would be a great idea. Plus it would ride out COVID.
