I don't think it's outlandish to say Treliving should be criticized for his seemingly continuous blunders when it comes to unrestricted free agency.

Look at his track record:

- Raymond (bad)
- Brouwer (bad)
- Hiller (mixed)
- Engelland (good)
- Frolik (good)
- Versteeg (good)
- Ryan (so far bad)
- Neal (so far bad)

Versteeg, Frolik and Engelland were good but Brouwer and Raymond looked like potential buyout candidates the day they were signed and Ryan and Neal have struggled to fit in here so far.

Versteeg had one good season, and Engelland is long gone.

I personally think Neal will come around but things haven't looked good so far and Ryan doesn't look like much other than an expensive 4th liner who is good at PKing - not a great way to spend valuable cap dollars.

5 years and 3 years for 2x $3+ million contracts isn't pretty given what they have provided so far. With the looming Tkachuk extension it already looks like we need to offload some salary.

It will be players like Frolik and Stone that will likely be sacrificed and in regards to Stone that may not be a big deal but Frolik has been one of our best forwards outside of the top guys.

Treliving does wonderful work with RFA signings, trading and, for the most part, drafting but his work in UFA is pretty bad if you ask me.

It's early, in regards to Neal and Ryan, but it can't be a great feeling seeing your 2 fresh UFA signing struggling to fit in yet again.

So 19 games in and we have over 16M of dead weight on our cap between Neal,Ryan,Smith and Stone. Yet we are still a middle of the pack team.

Could you imagine if we had a proper GM? All Tre has proven is he is good at signing RFA's and making blockbuster trades. His smaller trades, abysmal. Waiver wire performance, abysmal. Team building abysmal, UFA contracts, abysmal. Coaches, abysmal.

Get em' out before he ruins the rest of our cores prime.

Should we look forward to you bumping this thread all season long after each loss?
Because that's gonna be just swell and a real positive contribution to this site.

Tre has made most of the core

Honestly, what else needs to be said? We know the situation. Treliving gambled HARD on this season and so far it's not working out. He should be shown the door if this team misses the playoffs again on the back of weak goaltending.

Has he missed on signings and trades? Sure. Name a GM who hasn't.

Ya' I'm just going to ignore you. Anytime you respond to me it's always in a negative connotation with a smart ass remark while adding nothing productive in the process. So yeah, bye. Ignored.

Check the standings. 2 points out of first in the division. And the team is playing well even in losses. The gambles he made on this season are working, except for Neal and, to a degree, Ryan.

Smith was a last year signing, not a hard gamble on this specific season. Frankly, I think he thought Gillies would take a huge step last year.

MacKinnon and Schiefele are signed to terrific contracts, not really Monahan. Lindholm could be the first terrific contract that BT signed though. Which is fair, most GM's are going to have BT's middling record on contracts.

It is a good contract that is almost half done without a playoff win since he signed it. I said it the day it was signed but the Flames should have paid to get the 8 years. If it cost 8-8.5M per they should have done it.

I think it’s pretty clear that Tre and the Flames made a decision 2 years ago that Gillies was going to be ready either this year or next which is why they went after Smith instead of a guy like Raanta.

The way that Gillies game has completely imploded now is really fascinating. If he developed the way he was suppose to, now would be the perfect time to move him into the starters role in Calgary. To expect Smith to lose it suddenly was probably anticipated, but they probably assumed that Gillies would continue to progress.

Tre is going to get fired over this or he’s going to have to fire those who were aiding him with this decision (Sigalet, Huska, and Pascall, the goalie coach and Stockton braintrust.

Sign Gaudreau $8M. Bye bye Chucky. Gaudreau's is a really good deal.

Hanifin's contract is excellent. Lindholm's contract is great. Monahan's is also and Mackinnon and Scheifele having great contracts doesn't change that. Brodie's extension was good. Gio's is still looking really good.

the Flames are contenders this year because Treliving made a great huge trade.

Brodie was pretty well useless for the last 2 seasons ( minimal trade value) and now back with Gio is better than Hamilton.

Lindholm is better than Ferland .

Hamilton and Ferland for Lindholm would have made the Flames a better team.

Hanifin as a throw in for Fox is a clear Flames win on the all time best trade list.

--------

The Flames have the potential to miss the playoffs because he was unable to obtain a top 16 goalie. There list of top 16 goalies league wide that were moved: none

Maybe Hutton with the Sabres??
