I wonder if anyone can comment on why there was a Delta flight this morning out of YYC to YEG. It was a Delta operated flight and not some sort of codeshare with WestJet. What are the circumstances around this flight being allowed by Transport Canada? Was it a flight that was originally scheduled for Edmonton that was diverted to YYC and was just continuing onto YEG?

Looks like yesterday's flight DL4445 from Minneapolis to Edmonton, diverted to Calgary. This morning it continued onward to its destination.

I posted this some time ago, but thought it was relevant again as we mark the 75th anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz death camp.

Back in 2003, to mark an anniversary of the Polish Air Force, three Israeli Defense Forces pilots were invited to participate in the ceremony and flew their F-15 jets over the camp in a show of remembrance and strength.

Very moving for sure, but a few in Israel at the time suggested the fly-over was inappropriate and in some respects disrespectful to the memory of the victims.

After weather caused them to reschedule yesterday, the 777x is finally in flight

Still crazy to think those engines are as big as a 737 fuselage.

What goes up must come down.

Love how the wing tips fold as it slows down-

Trying to find more confirmation, but it appears that the Taliban took down a USAF E-11 (Bombardier Global 6000 frame) over Afghanistan:

Air Canada 767 operating Madrid-Toronto had an engine issue and possibly blown tire on departure, it has been burning off fuel before landing again in Madrid (no fuel dump on this aircraft). Wifi is up and running and a passenger sent this picture of a F-18 flying alongside that will help inspect the landing gear for damage:

Admittedly I don't really use Instagram to post a lot of content.

I primarily use it to post airplane picks, so I decided to make the account pretty much dedicated to that (but not entirely).

I've been going through my old Facebook photos and pulling the airplane photos I've taken over the past 10 years or so and am uploading one a day.

It might be neat seeing some old liveries, or aging out aircraft.

The number of times that plane goes around in a hold pattern looks absolutely nauseating. Looks like it will be landing soon though.

Have you ever been in one of those hold patterns?

A few years ago there were thunderstorms at YYZ, so we had to hold in circles like that. The humidity, with the turning was nauseating, especially the smell of the vomit from the guy in the row behind me.

Before you realize what's going on, it's kind of unsettling. My first though was there was an issue with the plane, then thought "This is a 737-Max 8, it just came off the assembly line, there isn't anything wrong with these, I'm perfectly safe."

Side note: sometimes I'm an idiot and completely wrong... don't tell my wife.

I remember getting stuck in a hold SW of Calgary during a good chinook wind day, our 737 was just getting rocked by turbulence (most likely coming off the mountains from the west wind). All the fun of people screaming, galley carts making that fantastically loud crashing sound in their bays, and my wife holding onto our then 9 month old for dear life.

Boeing 717 flight test back in the day, apparently the Boeing engineers thought something looked weird with the stall characteristics so they asked the test pilots to stall with a right bank (and maybe some cross control by the looks of it too):

That was what it looked like it was?

Holy ####. How do those guys get out of that cockpit what with those giant clanging balls hindering their movement? Must be what the wheelchairs are for on the ramp.

It sure was what it looked like. Did some digging and apparently this was early enough in Boeing's purchase of McDonnell Douglas that those were McD test pilots that were both previously Navy pilots and knew their sh*t like nobody else, and it shows. Insanely cool and collected in the upset recovery.
