Default July 28th Pre-play In Day 1

Other than the flames game this evening, a couple of other rivalries are on tap tonight, with the NHL kickstarting it season with some "pre-play-in" games

Pittsburgh Penguins @ Philadelphia Flyers 2:00PM MT (Carried by NBCSN)

Toronto Maple Leafs @ Montreal Canadiens 6:00PM MT (Carried by SN1, and TVAS)

Wtf, totally forgot Marleau got traded to the Pens.

31 degrees out and I'm about to tune into a hockey game during work hours when it's almost August!

Are they going to do both anthems before every game, or does this game get both because it's two American teams and it's being played in Canada?

It looks like they're in a tv studio rather than a hockey arena.

I was curious about what they'd do with the protective netting above the glass since they don't have to protect the fans. It looks like they won't have it. That's one less thing to worry about.

A couple of the camera angles are too far out and a little distracting for live shots but overall this is pretty incredible.

It's not on TV in Canada for some reason.

I just searched Google for NHL streams and clicked on the links. Eventually one of them worked.

Do the players get to hear the ''fans'' too?

Honestly this looks pretty good. Love the angles and the covers over the empty seats make it easier to focus on the players.

The NHL also said that a lot of the additional production features would be implemented during the regular games and not pre-season games. Still more to come.

I hate the fake crowd noise. I think the NHL missed the boat on a chance for a real unique fan experience by doing so.
