Sam Bennett is the only regular not on the ice this afternoon.
Also not skating as part of the main group: Mackey, Valimaki, Yelesin, Czarnik, Froese, Phillips, Gawdin, Robinson, Ruzicka, Quine, Gillies, Zagidulin. #Flames

Surprised the Flames are flying up there. You would think a bus ride would be safer Covid wise.

Why are they flying.. wouldn't it be much faster if they simply just drove there?
You havent been to an airport lately...they're basically Ghost towns.
Besides, they waive all of that pesky 'security' nonsense when people are flying to Edmonton because you basically cant make that place any worse than it already is.

They're not flying commercial. They'll fly out of the Executive Terminal, so they'll be able to basically walk right onto the plane and be in Edmonton (or at least Nisku) in 45 minutes. They don't even need to go through Customs, so it will just be whatever security is required at the Executive Terminal. I doubt they'll even need to pack bags because everything will be provided for them at the hotel in Edmonton.
If the travel requirements say they have to wear masks and remain distanced while travelling, it will be much more comfortable for them to do that on a plane for 30-45 minutes than a bus for a few hours.

LOL at the people thinking they’re taking a WestJet flight up.
They will be flying PJ.
No, I am not that stupid. But I appreciate other posters with much better explanation than your comment.. sorry I am not an expert on executive planes and runways.
Initially, I imagined going through security, sitting on the tarmac, taxiing would take up probably an hour..
Another 1 hour or so to get to Edmonton and taxiing..
Then add in time for players to get their with luggage, loading up the plan etc.. probably will take another 30 mins or so.
Not to mention, its probably a much more cost effective method. Why not give the savings to some of the employees who have been laid off.

#Flames head coach Geoff Ward says Glenn Gawdin, Adam Ruzicka, Matthew Phillips, and Connor Mackey will not be on the team’s final 31-player roster.

Mildly surprised by Gawdin getting cut but I suppose everyone else is either a wily vet or simply has a better case.

Yeah I noticed that too, but the Flames are really thin on defense organizationally. If it gets down to it and they absolutely need to play him, they will. They brought 11 dmen, right? Well they also brought like 10 centres. Big disparity there.

My response was in reply to the guy saying taking a bus would be safer then flying for COVID. Not yours.
