Not if I can sign Bishop for 5 x $6 million per
17th OA + Bishop > Scnheider at the same price and term
(Schneider has 5 years left at $6 million per and Bishop is younger)

I doubt the Devils are looking to trade Schneider. Keep in mind that they paid the 9th overall to get him.

Without hesitation. Not a chance the Devils would do it, though.

It may be very well worth it. But the caveat is that we don't have another pick until the 3rd round (and that's if we don't decide to bring Elliott back). Traded the 2nd for Lazar already and the 3rd was conditional on Elliott.
Also, as a GM you have to seize the unique opportunity that the expansion draft and protection lists are giving you this year, which may make prices on the younger goalies like Korpisalo, Grubauer, Pickard drop dramatically.
Bishop is a proven #1 with a playoff pedigree (but remember so did Elliott last year), but also gets injured way too damn much to warrant the kind of term and salary from the Flames that he'd command as a UFA.

a mid first rounder in a weak draft year to acquire a missing piece for the flames to make a long playoff run? Yes

I really like the idea of grabbing Grubauer or Korpisalo.

Schneider is an athletic goalie, Bishop is the Michelin man. Would be interesting to see how he does with smaller equipment next season.
I'd say no to both. If we're gonna move the 17th overall, package it for a RW who fits the age category of the core.

Allow them to embrace a rebuild. He's the reason they don't have McEichel and a Matthews or Laine right now.

Rather use it for help up front.
Everyone is over reacting cause Elliott has a bad game. He's fine.

Yeah, I'd also trade it for Sidney Crosby. Treliving should get on that.

Why would the devils do this?
Schnider is a top tier goalie in his prime that the devils gave up a 9th overall pick.
You could add Gilles, Anderson, or jankowski and I still wouldn't make that deal if I were Shero.
Terrible proposal.

Not sure how anyone can say no. 17th overall in this draft=mediocre chance at a middle six player. Schneider=one of the best goalies in the NHL for 5 years 6mill cap hit. Bishop=injury prone player that got chased off one of the best teams in the NHL for the last year's.
Schneider is the only reason Jersey isn't drafting too 5 every year. With a guy like that we are a contender.
Anyone remember Hiller's stats before we got him? Bishop gives me the same dreadful feeling. Call it a hunch.

I dont see the devils trading Schneider for a mid first round pick in a weak draft. The flames will definitely have to add.
It will be cheaper to trade for a goalie who is part of a tandem and expansion eligible.
