Pepper by a mile but Ville Niemimen was such a good agitator. Something the Flames have largely lacked since.

Pepper for now. If Jiri signs another 4 year deal, maybe there is a closer race, but Peplinski meant more to the flames than just the scoring stats suggest.

Pretty easy.
Never played anywhere else than here. Accepted the role later in his career to be one of the guys sitting regularly (IMO, he should have been playing more than Lanny, but I digress) prompting the infamous PJ's wearing in accepting the Cup in 1989.
Hated the Oilers as much as anyone, look at those 80's brawl videos with the Oilers going all the way back to the Corral days. A big frame, not scared of taking on any comes (look at his penalty minute totals) considering the size of most players back when but could still light the lamp. Given that, one can only imagine the social media outrage from those up north these days, if CBC broadcasts had a former Flames doing color for Flames/Oilers games, and, the 1991 playoff series.
Played for Canada in the 88 Olympics here, which was pretty cool. Thought it somewhat cheesy for his very brief 1995 return for a handful of games but he had earned the latitude to make that decision given his years of service prior I guess.
Synonymous with Flames alumini, still active there and willing to help out, and seems to be all around great guy.

Pepper. Nobody showed more heart for this franchise than he did, especially in the BOA.

No-brainer that Peplinski will win this.
This might be as good a thread as any, but does anyone remember why he retired so young? I know he didn't get along with Terry Crisp but I always thought it was an odd decision and never really understood it.

Retiring at 32-33 we pretty common in those days, so he only retired a couple years earlier than normal (30). Part of it might have been the fact NHL players (especially depth guys like Peplinski) didn't make huge money in those days. So Peplinski may have just wanted to get on with his post-hockey life rather than disrupt his family and move away to chase a couple more years playing in another city.

These polls are really fun and awesome and I appreciate when people go against the grain because they genuinely feel a non poll winner was a better player in Calgary, but the only thing that's been a little annoying is the "That guys better but I picked this guy because he deserves props, too".
Great, but vote for the what the poll's actually asking and then give your props to the lesser player in your post.
Fleury and Iginla aren't 92% results, it was just people saying "Hey, I know they were the best #14/#12 of all time on the Flames, but here's how I voted wrong instead".

He did. It only lasted for a handful of games though. It was about 2-3 years after he retired.

Anyone ever him at a speaking engagement? You hear him talk, and you just want to listen. The guy knows how to be a leader, and you can be sure he was one of the important leaders on that '89 team (as I am sure he was for his entire tenure). I am always surprised he hasn't gone on to be a bigger part of the Flames' organization. Always thought he should be groomed for something or other, as he seems like a really smart individual.
