Monahan + Kylington +1st is a stronger bid than Laine + Roslovic.

I’m very doubtful Winnipeg deals both Laine and Roslovic to Columbus even if the package is greater than PLD. It’s simply not in their blood to make too many deals and I can’t imagine that any package from Columbus would suit them. If anything I reiterate it’s a first + PLD for Laine. Roslovic is dealt separately. Winnipeg never makes deals and I doubt they’ll deal two guys to one team just to get one main piece.

I personally am not seeing how Dubios is, or will be, substantially better than Monahan. He might be at some point, but even a simple check-in on career stats would serve a lot of people well. And an actual close, objective look at some of our players instead of latching to a narrative and repeating it endlessly.
I don’t think there’s anyone arguing Dubois is way better than Monahan. But metrics like GAR and GSVA and Corsica’s stacking of metrics currently suggest PLD is better than Monahan. I haven’t seen many people uncritically accepting narratives. Most ppl understand that what Monahan brings to the table is very valuable.

Fair enough instead of fanbois, I can say, "Big Sean Monahan fans who most likely wear his jersey and defend him to the death, regardless of how he plays".

The fact is Monahan is a 26 year old center who has some great stats and would be attractive to Columbus.

The Flames are in obvious need a of shake up, the last two playoff series alone prove this. Monahan has been a complete disappointment in those playoffs.

If the price for Dubois starts with Monahan, it seems obvious it's time for Sean to go. Many of us do not want to see the Flames continue to spin their wheels and believe PLD would be a leap forward for years to come.

People have to remember Pierre Luc Dubois would be UNTOUCHABLE if he didn't want out. The Blue Jackets fans and organization are devastated this has to happen. But it does.

The Flames have a good chance to land him, the center that other teams cant offer (Monahan), as well as prospects or picks to make it happen. A 22 year old center, who plays big, has skill pedigree and looks like hes about to break out.

The bold move.

Its time.

I can see a 3 way deal coming out of this.

Feels like it could be Ryan Johansen all over again to me.

People thought he’d develop into a big, two way, physical Center but really he didn’t develop much in Nashville and actually never surpassed his career high of 71 points that he had in Columbus and never became great defensively.

Keep in mind, that 1st is more likely than not a mid- to late-round pick. Good for the Flames to trade, yes. Pretty meh for the Jackets though.

Honestly, I want nothing to do with Dubois unless it's a one for one deal for Monahan. I don't dislike Monahan, but to shake things up and add something to the playoffs is needed.

Retain on Bennett not Monahan. Why retain on a player with 3 years left when you can retain for a player with 1.

Monahan+Bennett is equally as strong as Laine+Roslivic for what the Jackets need but Laine’s upside could be the difference.

Do they want a center who is 26 with 3 years left who is a proven goal scorer?
Do they want a winger with elite goal scoring potential and only 22 who needs a new contract next summer?

I prefer Bennett’s edge and playoff performances more than the slightly better offensively Roslivic

I mean, if you think about it. I mean really think about it, Winnipeg makes the most sense.

Which is fine. I like Monahan. Rather keep him.

I guess we shall see.

You are a big Monahan fan. I understand this is upsetting to you if it happens. I get it, people get attached to players.

Hopefully Dubois will win you over and you'll have a new favorite player to cheer for.

Lol, you act as if Treliving isn’t trying. Cry me a river. We don’t need him as much with Lindholm playing center.

Lindholm playing well at center does change things.

If the asking price is Laine + Roslovic, then I'm happy Winnipeg is paying it.

I never said anything about Treliving. He is so smart that other GMs are just nervous to make a deal with him. They don't want to look bad.
