Yea….0-2 in what’s a fairly easy group.

Our group has the 3 best teams in the tournament it looks like, which is ridiculous from the tournament organizers. (They put last years finalists in the same group - Canada and Scotland). Ukraine is quite good as well. We’re 2-0, winning 5-1 vs Scotland and 3-1 vs Ukraine. There’s a good chance neither of them get through group stages, which would be a crime.

Finals are today.

4:30 - my team (Canada) vs Italy in the Masters Over 35 final
6:00 - Canada vs England - women’s final
7:30 - El Salvador vs Eritrea - men’s open final

Predictions:
- we win the masters. (The next two best teams were actually in our group, and because of that they didn’t make it through to knockout. Beat Scotland 5-1 and Ukraine 3-1
- Canada beats England. Multiple players with international experience on Canada.
- I think Eritrea will actually beat ES. They’re very young (oldest player 23), and quite good. As long as their lack of experience doesn’t hurt them, I think they win

El Salvador have a huge following, and Eritrea decent as well. It will be PACKED. If you’re coming to watch, you’ll want to likely come to the earlier games to secure your seat.

For next year, and going forward the boards need to be demolished; 7 aside, field width. God I hate that subway turf and those boards.

Not enough fields in the city to support the tournament 7v7 unfortunately. That would be ideal though.


Not gonna lie though, I do have a soft spot for boarded. It makes the game extremely fast.

Btw, results as follows:


- Women's open winners = Canada
- Men's Open = Eritrea (there were an estimated 3,000 ppl for this game...it was NUTS)
- Masters (O35) = Canada (we're back to back!)
- Masters (O45) = Chile


Really successful tournament, and keeps getting better. Women's tourney needs to spread the word to get more quality players, as Canada breezed through the tournament. There were multiple UWS players on that team.
