I think the main issue with these logos and similar things is that I don't think enough people are viewing these in terms of a holocaust or genocide. The Native Americans had untold atrocities committed against them, every bit as awful as the Jewish holocaust. What if I told you a German hockey(Soccer) team was called the 'Jews'? Or if they were using the star of David as a logo? I think we'd all be rightfully appalled.

I don’t really think it is making it whiter... it’s just shifting perspective which can be illuminating. Most white people didn’t see how these logos and names were offensive until it was pointed out to them. I didn’t hear a single complaint about the Cleveland Indians 20 years ago. Or how about the Apache helicopter? That could be one of the worst offences.
I think we need sympathy, we weren’t all as educated as we are now, and I’d assume that includes you. Just because someone hasn’t been educated yet doesn’t mean they can’t be.
