Nice. I believe I read somewhere last season that if Philips were to play a game in the NHL, he would be the smallest player to ever play in the NHL. Could have been BS, I guess, but he has to be close.

Great news. We need to start bringing up our young guys. Look at the success Dube and Mangiapane is having.
Hopefully Phillip's can do similar

What does this mean for the current roster? Someone injured or getting demoted?

Excited for the kid but this is really unusual timing.
Team has two returning forwards and almost no cap space left. Makes you wonder if anything else is in the works.

Can't think of who would be coming out of the line-up? Everyone has been playing pretty well.

I think that honour goes to Nathan Gerbe. Listed at 5'4", 176 lbs. on HockeyDB.
Watching games where he plays you would swear he's even smaller than that.

Philips deserves a look. But I have no idea where he would slot in - too many bodies now, with Czarnik and Bennett both close to returning.
My guess is he gets in a couple practices with the boys, and a giant raise for a few days or so.
Or <wild speculation> Tkachuk is actually hurt from last night's action

Nathan Gerbe is 5'4" and he had a long career with the Sabres, Hurricanes, and Blue Jackets. Phillips is listed at 5'7".

I wonder if someone isn't a bit banged up and they're giving them a rest and tossing Phillips in tonight?

Fleury was smaller. Gerbe even smaller.

Mentioned this last night as a move I'd like to see to reward the guy and see what he has.
And low and behold!
Maybe this means Tkachuk is taking a game for maintenance? He was a bit roughed up right.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Yeah this raises more questions than answers. Who is hurt? Bennett not ready? Will he play tonight?

Likely hasn't completed his conditioning stint. He'll likely be back when fully ready.

I’d guess Tkachuk has a shoulder injury after going into the end boards and leaving the ice immediately after.
