Shiny Eevee are nice, Last Resort is no good.
Frenzy Plant, Smack Down and Meteor Mash are hands down best moveset for corresponding mons, and should make as many as possible of them.

Pretty much have to be in game best friends to make the stardust cost feasible. Even then, it’s 20,000 stardust for the first one. Only one per day can be traded. Might take you up on that at some point, hopefully I get a bunch this weekend. If shiny rates are boosted for everything the whole weekend to normal shiny rates, everyone going to have way too many of everything.

If you're Thneed1 in game then we're already best friends.

Quit now because everything good is legacy.

Otherwise:

- Make friends. It's the best source of experience. Stack and lucky egg your friendship milestones.
- Try to get in on raids. It's a source of powerful Pokemon, and other players can carry you. Find out how other people in your location communicate.
- 7-day research pokemon are fairly weak, but are good for new players
- Do NOT evolve your good Pokemon as a newbie, it's a waste of candies. (Exception: community day) Try to wait until you hit level 30. Your goal is to store candies for pokemon with high CP and IV.
- Get an IV checker. Look for high IVs.
- Do the community day events if at all possible. They're a good source of shinies and the exclusive moves are typically very strong.

Things to try to do daily:
- Catch a pokemon
- Spin a stop
- Raid, get a raid pass from a gym (you can raid twice every other day as well)
- Claim a research quest
- Send and open gifts
- Battle one NPC and three friends

Now, I don't do all that stuff daily, because I find it a lot, but that's the list.

So I've added a few of you as friends. It sucks that I'm in a really small town with 3 pokestops and don't travel as much. I don't even think anyone else around here plays it so I can't really win raids and I've had one of my pokemon in a gym for like 5 days with no challenges. Are there any tricks or tips for someone in my situation?

Fun fact: 'Pokemon Go' is the abbreviated form of 'Pokemon: Go Play in a City'.

You cannot raid legendaries so research is vital. Many raids can be soloed though. The "number of players" the game recommends is not actually required unless all players are very weak. If you think you can't do them... try, as it sounds like you're not using your freebie raid passes anyways.

The standard "accelerated program" for solo players is grind XP, catch high-CP Eevees, evolve into Espeon, solo Machamps with Espeons, duo Tyranitar with Machamps. Fight Deoxys with Tyranitars. Pokebattler actually says that you can solo Machamp with Espeons with levels in the low 20s, which seems absurd considering you needed to be 30+ before but maybe it is that easy now.

If you can't find a duo partner for Tyranitar, may want to consider becoming a multi-accounter. May be against ToS but any raid is soloable with enough accounts and devices.

Landed at YYC a few minutes ago. I've got a lot of besties from CP.
Have Torkoal to trade. Do not care what comes back. Will be in AB for a couple weeks but not much around Calgary. Regardless, if it works for a time/place to trade, PM me. It is no good that these are special trades and limited to 1 per day.

What is the best evolution of eevee? Should I power up a pokemon before evolving it? What's more important, high CP or high IV?

Eevee evolves are all good, for different things.

Evolve it first. If it doesn't get the optimal moveset you may decide to evolve another one instead of using a TM on the first one. Dust is currency.

High IV more important, but probably not as important as many make it out to be, as far as practical goes.
Dragonite has max Attack stat of 263.
So a Drag with 15 attack iv either has 15 more than that, or a Drag with 0 attack iv has 15 less than 263 (not sure which way it is). So mathing it out, a 0% Dragonite attack is about 94% as powerful as a perfect Dragonite. In real world battles, not actually much difference.
