Sean Monahan is so upset about these chinstraps that he plans on never fastening them

Anytime I hear mention of Chin Straps my mind immediately conjures an image of Tkachuck knocking Caveman Kassian clean out of his bean bucket 3 times in a row. May be related to the fact that I cannot recall the last time I laughed that hard at anything.

This is a good example of “Be careful what you put in your brain. Once it’s in there you’re never getting it out again.”

Gosh darn you BurningSteel. Gosh darn you to heck.

Goes to show to all those people complaining about not having retros full time all these years, need to find something else to complain about, now that retros are full time. Basically you're not happy unless you get what you want.

Interesting observation, but a fairly benign issue IMO. Besides, you're not just replacing the straps, but the ear loops as well.

If you want to get technical, the more interesting question is why the Flames used to wear crimson red helmets that were a different shade than the rest of the jersey. Try to un-see THAT:

As for real issues, I'm hoping Monahan wears his chinstrap a little tighter next year. It not only looks dumb when it gets knocked off, but it hurts the team if he has to leave the ice (or worse if he gets a penalty).

I prefer the black.

It’s kind of like the netting at the ends of the rink. You think that white netting would be easier to see through and blend in but it doesn’t.

Changing to white makes it part of the uniform and looks weird. Leaving it black makes it blend into the back ground.

It looks like Detroit, Florida, Pittsburgh, and the Islanders are the only teams that have white chin straps on their dark helmets (plus Philly and Washington on their alternates).

Thanks for making me notice something that I'll never be able to unsee.
