Gasly will get to witness the prerace beheading at the Saudi Arabia GP next year as he has been confirmed at AlphaTauri for 2021.

Alrighty...updated standings...just in time for predictions at Imola. Remember picks by Friday midnight even though its a 2 day race weekend!

Jayswin had the best week of the season so far, 6 correct slotted picks and 32pts. Agulati was second with 4 correct and 25pts, but they are now TIED for first overall. Jayswin would win the ti breaker with 29 correct slotted vs 28 for Agulati (I will need to double check if we actually had a tie breaker).

Spoiler!

Verstappen
Hamilton
Perez
Sainz

Gasly

Bottas, you suck.
Stroll, you're just the worst.
Albon, you should meet Hulkenberg.
Russell, you're no longer Mr. Saturday.

Wow, 6 out of 10, thats a good one. I might have been able to hit 5 if I hadn't gambled on Bottas.

I don't really want to put an Asterix beside his record wins and poles and eventual title record but for the life of me I cannot recall even Schumacher having as easy a time getting to 7 titles or 91 wins like Hamilton has. Maybe 2 seasons of pure Ferrari domination with Schumi?

I dont know, just seems like if literally anybody else drove Hamilton car they'd be multiple times champ too.

This era of F1 isn't even fun IMO. Its one team, a crazy sizeable gap to the next team and then yet another gap to 2 or 3 other teams.
If Hamilton wasn't as great as you think he isn't, he wouldn't have won his first championship in 2008, before he was in the best car on the grid. He wouldn't have beaten every Bottas so handily. He only lost one season in the Merc, and that one had a lot of bad luck, and he barely lost. He's clearly better the Rosberg. He's also faced several world champions on the grid, and beaten them. He's made Vettel look the fool several times. He's an incredible driver with skills that can not be denied. Does he get pouty? Of course. But he doesn't make stupid mistakes on track. Most former drivers consider him the best current driver, and not just because of the car.

Will have to disagree here. He's not the GOAT. Far from it. Merc has dominated this formula like no other manufacturer has before. I think the regulations have helped this immensely. There are no more midseason upgrades or engine development.

Hamilton doesn't win races he shouldn't with inferior equipment. And really hasn't for most of his career. To me that's a requirement to be in the GOAT conversation.

He is the best driver in the sport today and has the most career wins, but that's about it.

I didn't say Hamilton sucked. Nor was it implied. I thought my post was extremely clear saying the competition has never been weaker relatively to the cars. Ferrari was always toe to to with Williams or McLaren. McLaren was always toe to toe with Ferrari or Beneton or RedBull or Renault.

All the greats faced incredibly stiff competition from other car makers. Save maybe the Senna Prost era, its been tight. Hamilton in the Merc has faced none of it except a nice middle finger from Rosberg. Redbull and Ferrari have had a glimmer of light here and there and everyone else (McLaren/Williams/Renault) just went scorched earth and are now just getting back up to speed.

No other era of f1 that I have watched over the last 30 years has been this one sided. And its gifted Hamilton some pretty easy wins to get to those records that were IMO earned with a lot more effort from previous driver. And this coming from a guy that despised Schumacher for his BS in the Villenuve championship season and onward.
