Families suing Hockey Calgary over boundary changes.

It will be interesting to see where this goes. Seems ridiculous to me but I'm not in their shoes.

I get that folks are upset, but this is not the first time the boundaries have likely been redrawn and it likely will not be the last.

I was laughing at the part of the article where the one woman wants to understand why hockey calgary is doing this. So you need to a lawyer to help you with that.

To me it is a huge waste of resources that could be used for player development etc

do you mean the changing of the boundaries by HC or the parents suing hockey calgary?

Parents suing HC, is a waste of resources, for both the associations and HC. Boundary changes happen ever so often, and need to. As the city grows the "inner city" registration numbers dwindle and outlying communities numbers increase.

They have a bunch of practice and game ice secured at Seton Rec South but I'm not sure where the rest of their ice is. They might have some in TsuTsina? and I imagine Oakridge as we've played them a few times there as well.

I've heard their evaluations are a bit of an issue from some families. Apparently they tier the kids by doing time trials and then build teams from there. So some kids get placed really high cause they are fast and then can't be adjusted down.

Doesn't Southwest also utilize the two rinks at Southland quite a bit?

It's funny that families in the CKE are part of the lawsuit when if you look at the rinks within the Southwest border there are a number quite close to their communities. Not sure what their gripe is.

I also don't understand why the NWW are so up in arms? Nothing is changing for them. They will merge and still have access to all the same arenas. They were getting a rebranding anyhow.

The only group that could have legitimate concerns is the NE Saints but I get why HC felt they had to dissolve the association. Tough decision.

What is the endgame of the lawsuit? They want things left as is? It seems if they are successful they could completely mess with the entire HC system of governance.

Travelling all the way to Cardel South vs FCA is a big issue for Chinook Park. Especially because a lot of people there work downtown.

Geez. That would be a terrible place to have a 4:30 ice time on a weekday. Welp. I would miss a lot of those.

I grew up in CKE , at the time our home rink was Fairview (RIP) that is when we weren't playing on the outdoor ice in Kingsland!

I'll admit Seton sounds like a bit of a haul from there

My son is going into 1st yr Atom with Southwest.

90% of their games and practices were either at Cardel Rec South or Oakridge last year.

I'll second that the evaluation procedures is severely lacking.

What age group is your kid(s)?
