I am so excited to share this project I've been working on for the last year with you guys. The team is a local group of really talented people, and the whole thing started with a desire to talk about Flames highlights, so we thought you guys might be interested!
We've built a *free* iPhone app called WULU. It's a real-time, topic-based app that creates a space for meaningful online conversation. You pick a trending topic and we pair you with other people looking to talk about the same thing.
Some of the key features include:
A personalized dashboard that keeps track of the topics you like
Automatic pairing with people who share your interests
Small group-based chatrooms that last five minutes — or longer with lively banter
Reputation and leaderboards (coming soon)
It's version one, so we hope you'll forgive any rough edges and let us know what you think!
They also have significantly higher app piracy rates and device/OS fragmentation making it much more difficult to control the quality of the user's experience.
It's a free app so privacy isn't a huge issue but the other is. There are too many crap android phones, running old OS's to maintain a high level of quality on the platform.
If we could go back, we never would have made our game for Android (or Windows). It wasn't worth the effort.
Thanks guys. It's a v1, so if you come across any issues, let us know and we'll squash those bugs!
We've been blown away by the reception so far. People seem to be liking the concept — now we just need to get more users on the app. Our goal is to bring the matchmaking down to less than a minute.
For the Android guys: we're glad you're interested, and we'll try to get there as quickly as we can. It's an unfortunate part of mobile development but you have to start somewhere. (Actually, if any Android devs are reading this right now, send me a PM and we'll chat!)

Why Iphones first? Android has the majority of the market share and has open sourcing to reduce the costs of R and D.
I love this mindset. Why don't you make an android app and tell us how awesome and easy it was. Then you just have to sit back and read the reviews of all the people using crappy android phones telling you it's slow and crashes all the time.
The iOS SDK is much more efficient, powerful and user friendly.
