Default Firefox - "Quote" not working on CP?

I've switched from Edge and Chrome, both of which have been driving me absolutely stark raving mad (constant nags, resets of basic settings, privacy invasions, "logging in" to account even when set off....).

Anyway, each time I try to quote in Firefox...all I get is a blank box? (Continues to work fine in Chrome and Edge).

Is there a setting I'm missing?

having the same issues only if the quoted post has certain characters ... usually apostrophes are the culprit. Frustrating for sure.

It's an issue between Firefox, the old forum software and Apple. Pick one to blame. The users you can't quote post form Apple devices that use directional quotations and other characters. There is some confusion between Firefox and the forum software at this point. I've looked into it, nothing to be done on our end. So I copy/paste, or I always have Chrome open anyways, so do the quote reply form there. Not ideal, I know. But it's been like this for years.

..and sometimes it works, as I just found out. Weird.

Is it some type of script blocking extension or embedded in the Firefox source code?

It's the way Firefox is handling non-standard characters(it seems it can't process it with whatever call is being used by vBulletin). Nothing to do with add-ons or scripts.

Ah - so maybe plain text posts are fine, but anything with an emoji or image etc might barf. Will experiment!

I think it has to do with characters in the Unicode character set.

For example something with normal quote characters works fine: ""

But if you use the Unicode open and close quotes it has a problem: “ ”

People typing on a keyboard will get normal ASCII code quotes, but if you copy/paste something from the Internet it often has the Unicode ones.

Quoting this post in Firefox should exhibit the problem. And yeah it's something to do with the Javascript that the forum software uses to do the text editor and how Firefox runs it. Probably Firefox is more strict about running some Javascript code.

Yah - weird...worked fine for me too. But I think the angle is heading in the right direction. Will watch for the next one that doesn't quote!!

I think it's only from Apple devices that prevents quoting when they contain those characters, so maybe Apple uses non-standard “ ”
