I really want to like RDR2, but man it's a tedious game to play. No fast travel, buying or looting takes forever, clumsy ass controls, and no ability to save mid-mission. I don't know if I have enough patience to stick it out for an entire playthrough, really wish Rockstar would have put in a "non-immersive" mode for people who can only play in short periods at a time

It’s a shame because the story, especially in the later stages, is really really engaging. But like every Rockstar game, it’s filled to the brim with tedious missions to uncover that story.
It's really not a review. Don't want it. I don't care. Jakey is one of the best of the best on YouTube.
We’ll have to agree to disagree on that one. Cringe humour aside, I didn’t see anything in that video that I haven’t seen done before and better from other game channels.
I don't understand this take. I played the original twice and I never do that unless I really, really enjoyed the game. I legitimately did not enjoy playing this one as I fully agree with one reviewer that aptly called it "Misery Porn". The game itself is very polished as are the production values but it wasn't fun and a chore to play for me. Even if you take out the story's bleak focus on how inherently bad humans are a lot of the gameplay is centered around moving from empty building to empty building searching for items, running into a few zombies and humans, rinse and repeat as there wasn't a lot of variety in the gameplay. If you are going to dismiss my opinion as stupid then I suppose I have to dismiss yours as stupid for liking it.
Lol wasn't one of your complaints that you were too distracted by the physique of a character? And saying days gone was better yet the gameplay loop described above is exactly the same in days gone but now you also have bike you need to find gas for. While I did have fun with days gone that was just an appetizer to the last of us 2.

That's the thing, it purports to be more than just a silly video game. The intent is to elevate the medium. The first one did, in my view. This one fell short of doing the same, so people are bound to have nuanced opinions about that.
It's like talking about a long-awaited sequel to an all-time great movie. Lots of ink will be spilled.

Just an update on Assassin's Creed Valhalla bugs: they released a big patch yesterday (1.0.4) that seems to have addressed most of the issues. I was able to go back and complete side quest world events that I had to abandon earlier due to bugs. And Eivor hasn't had another random seizure anymore either.. yet.
Think those waiting on bugs to be fixed before playing it are in the clear now.
I saw the patch notes and decided to fire up the game. Didn't run into any issues, although there were a couple of NPCs on the 2nd mission that started seizing out randomly. Otherwise everything seemed fine for the most part.
I downloaded and am playing Metal Gear Solid The Phantom Pain. I've never played a MGS game before and so far it's great. I'm terrible at being sneaky and always seem to end up in gun battles, but it's fun. Is it more important to try and be sneaky or are the gun battles ok once in awhile?
I've tried twice to get into Phantom Pain and both times had to give up. For some reason I couldn't get into the groove of the game and haven't gone back since. I'm pissed at myself since I love 3rd person action RPGs like this and the game got such great ratings. Yet I just couldn't get over the hump
Maybe I'll try again one day. More angry at myself for giving up on it than I am at the actual game, given how most other reviewers/gamers hold it in such high regards.

Absolutely. Making Abbey look like she was jacked up on steroids was just bizarre and distracting. We have seen with movies like Alien, Terminator, Mad Max Fury Road, etc that you can make strong female characters without making them cartoonish. Days Gone was much more fun IMO. Much, much more fun.
Working my way through WoW: Shadowlands. So far so good. It's got much more of a Legion feel than a BfA one, which is good (I didn't particularly like BfA).
The story is pretty linear, though, and it's the same for Horde/Alliance, which is a bit of a downer. If feels weird going to lvl 50 from 120, to.
After hitting 60 and working through covenant stuff, some mythic dungeons and exploring the world a bit beyond the main storyline, I can say it's at least 4 times better than BfA and much much closer in quality/feel to Legion. Good start, we'll see if they can stick the landing this time.

I had a hard time with Phantom Pain too, actually. Still haven't gotten more than three missions in.
OG MGS? Beaten several times over.
MGS 2? Beaten several times over.
MGS 3 (both versions)? Beaten once for each version, but tempted to do another playthrough.
MGS 4? Beaten twice, would play again (holding out for RPCS3 improving game compat. since I sold my PS3).
MGS V? Three missions.

Just hit 60 last night on my main, and have finished all 4 'starter/introductions' to the zones.
I am now willing to forgive them a lot for the Ardenweald campaign quests. Long, long past time to right that wrong, imo.
I'm really enjoying it, though I'm not a big van of the Revendreth aesthetic. This story has really hooked me in, unlike BfA's, which couldn't engage me from the start.

I had a weird thing happen where two bronze trophies for story related events much later in the game popped up in the first mission for no reason whatsoever.

Basically what Pepsi said, but basically I'd highlight it as the reasons many felt they were going to rate the game as a 0/10 was stupid just as some of the disregarding of certain aspects to say 10/10 were also seemingly stupid.
Overall, I did enjoy the game, but there were minor things that kinda irked me that I agree with you made certain segments feel like a chore. IMO a huge change that would have gotten rid of the chore like feeling of certain parts of the game would have been a simple reordering of the chapters. IMO a reordering of the chapters could have garnered a 9.0-9.5/10 in its own right, but without that reordering, for me it feel like a 7.0-8.0/10 because of the fact the ordering of the chapters causes some self spoilering of the game and makes you want to rush past certain segments.

I think people are sill stuck on taking the extreme opinions (complaints about a LGBTQ story, about a "trans" character, about certain characters dying, or just tanking it because sky high expectations were not fully met) and suggesting that encompassed most of the criticism. That likely comes from the fact that biased reviewers set that stage early on for people, writing articles suggesting the only people who didn't like the game were bigots or gamergate bros or whatever. When the fact is the vast majority of criticisms have been completely reasonable.
For many people, myself included, it just wasn't very good, or at least not great. There are many valid reasons for why that is, but for me it was technically beautifully and forgettable in almost every other way. The pacing/story was poorly constructed, the gameplay was repetitive and predictable to a fault, the characters and relationships were about as believable as in a B horror movie, and it just wasn't enjoyable.
I don't think people who loved it or wrong, I just find it weird why they dismiss most of the people who didn't love it.
Yeah, I was mainly addressing the wait many were stretching certain aspects of the game to put out a plethora of 0/10 reviews. The whole thing was more than just garden variety polarizing, it went as far as to have two sides try and negate each other at levels I haven't seen before which was bizarre as hell.

I feel like cartoonish is the wrong word since her physique was modeled after a real person(Colleen Fotsch).
In a video game where an individual single-handedly kills hundreds upon hundreds of hundreds other people over the span of a couple of days of gameplay.
Freeland also announced a plan to start levying digital sales taxes on consumers nationwide for the first time — a new system that could raise as much as $1 billion over the next five years.
Freeland said sales taxes will apply to all goods and services consumed in Canada — regardless of how they are supplied. It's consumers who will pay the tax, not the companies themselves.
While the federal government has long said it would coordinate any new regime with other Western nations, Freeland said Canada is now prepared to go it alone on taxing digital companies.
