It’s just sad when you see a guy running around with obvious intent to injure other players like that. It’s one thing to be a pest or an agitator, but those clips show that he goes to far. Really hope he’s changed, but do players like him ever really change?

I'm not a stats guy but DSP's line seemed to be hemmed in every shift and this confirms it. I wonder if it is worth releasing him early as I can't see him making the NHL even as a backup forward. Zac easily beats him. Even at 42 slots, I have to think that there are better PTOs out there.
I read HockeyBuzz solely for Todd Cordell’s articles on the Flames, which are excellent.

Kudos to Ronaldo for being media savvy, but that really has nothing to do with whether he can help the team.

Some guys are better with a microphone in front of them than others and IMO it’s never a good idea to evaluate anyone based on those situations.

It is hard to claim that none of these players got a fair shake. I'd imagine that these were easy choices to make.

Just a guy to take shots in practice IMO.

Let Parsons and Zagidulin get to Stockton to get comfortable with the rest of the guys.

Gillies can stay here and back up so the guy not playing doesn't have to dress, and can take the heavier workload in practice.

Then they will probably try to find an AHL team to loan him to, or have to get an agreement to send him to the ECHL team.

Lots of interesting battles still going on, but defense has me most interested.

Forwards with the 10 locks means there will probably be 3 spots:

Czarnik, Austin
Dube, Dillon
Quine, Alan
Rieder, Tobias (PTO)
Rinaldo, Zac (PTO)
Smith-Pelly, Devante (PTO)

Dmen 5 Locks, probably 2 spots:

Davidson, Brandon
Kylington, Oliver
MacDonald, Andrew (PTO)
Stone, Michael

The only easy one is DSP not making it.

I’d say Dube, then Quine have the upper hand in Fwds. Reider and Czarnik are close and Reider is more versatile and cheaper, though Czarnik had more success last year. I’ve liked Ronaldo in preseason but I sense that he’d wear out his welcome. On D, Stone and Kylington. I would not be surprised to see MacDonald get signed by someone else.
